Ok, so every now and then I get a spark of energy and decide to do a bit of DIY around the house, especially since I've just had a renovation done.

I've had some really good successes too, if I do say so myself.

But.... I have yet to learn NOT to drill holes into my new bathroom walls in the hope of putting up shelves,etc.

I now have 8 holes drilled in various places that DON'T WORK for what they were intended for - grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Oh, and I also have sore hands from trying to push the drill and the screw driver into the wall so the damn screws would go in far enough!!

Someone tell my WHY!! Tomorrow I'll be in more pain, and everytime I walk into my bathroom I want to cry. Now I have to pay some twit to do it!

You can buy drywall anchors that require the drill to put them into the wall....or the kind you hammer in....then you can put a shelf up using the anchor as your hole to put the screw in it and voila! I hope it isn't too late to use something along that line?
I hear ya however, I've done that many times myself...until I discovered them....try not to overdo it.....
I hope you are pleasantly surprised and have NO pain tomorrow.......

You can always give up on shelfs that away you don't have to clean them. I use to be a neat freak. My home is such a mess now I want to get rid of everything and I don't have the energy to do that

Oz Sweetie.....you need to start watching infomercials! Have you seen the "HURCULIES HOOKS?" LOL.....sorry thats our joke around here.

Awe, just run out and buy yourself a big tub of spackle....use it, burn it(sand that is) and polish her up...and voila...she'll look like new!

Okay, I watch too many DIY shows! Go Bob!

oz, i used to do drywall until i no longer physically could,get some drywall compound and fill the hole,sand them down just to smooth it out then paint.or like mizzie said get some anchor screws,they work awesome,hope it helps,or hgtv has some good ideas too.hugs,dawn

I think you have the right idea hiring someone to come in and repair the damage. Sometimes we just have to bite the bullet and admit we messed up and move on. Yes I learned this from experience! My walls are half drywall and half holes that have been puttyed over!

There is also stud finders, you can buy. To actually drill holes, into studs.

Thanks everyone, but it's not drywall....lol.
It's called lamipanel, which is like a laminate over the wall. I had it done instead of tile, cos I hate cleaning tiles, so I can't putty it up :(
I used the things that came with the shelves, that split and hold when you screw into them, not sure what they're called. I've used them elsewhere with success, just not this time, grrrr.
