I am up again now and able to make it through the grocery store if I hurry. But doing it will put me down for a few days. I don't know how long this will last. I just take every good day and try to make the most of it.
It is so frustrating when I can't do what I need to do. I started doing most of my purchases online. That really helped a lot.
Sorry you are having a bad spell. Hopefully it is only temporary.
Hugs,
YDLS
IBM ( Inclusive Body Myositis) I know can cause muscle weakness that is more of a imflamation of muscles. PM (polymyositis) Thinking these probably were ruled out when being diagnosed with FM. But maybe could ask your doc.anyway.
I hope you feel much better tomorrow sending healing prayers..
take care gentle hugs

Our bodies were made to move. We must move for a ton of reasons and it's important - like eating or sleeping are important. When we don't move enough for a long time, we just start to rot and clog faster.
Do you have or can you get access to a pool - preferably with a therapist? Wouldn't that be just perfect? It's really a shame more insurance companies don't cover it. I would think it would help things heal faster.
Whatever you do, focus on what YOU can do rather than what you can't. Do anything you can for strength.
I have lower back issues and trouble standing for very long. When I can, I do the workout but when I'm flaring, no way - however, when I am flaring, I've found that at least lifting my arms up as high as I can (while sitting OR lying down) and readjusting my posture really takes an amazing amount of strain off my back.
I also lift my legs in different ways while sitting or lying - swing my shoulders or hips in time to the music - lift my cheeks to my eyes (really - this releases feel good stimulants - try it now.)
I also got an inversion table about 3 years ago, used it daily - religiously for 3 months and my 20 years of supreme back issues more or less went away. Like friggin' magic.
If you're walking around on compressed nerves, it's going to hurt no matter what. Think decompression.
I may have overdone it because now I think I have some kind of compression on the other end, in my brain, or something... and haven't been able to use it for over a year - Sheesh! But maybe I wasn't breathing properly.
It's always something, eh?
I think if you get that circulation test done, that would be a good start. I wonder if by having leg edema it caused serious nerve damage as the fluids are pressing on your tissues for so long. Additional testing sounds like a great idea if you are able to.
Exercise and massage sound like a plan too if you have a hand held massager. We dont ever go wrong with working out....and water work outs would be much less drama on your body as the water gives so much support to our bodies.
