I grew up really poor. Somehow one day I talked my mom into buying me a box of pink mints. I was so excited that the box flew out of my hand and fell in back of the big heavy couch.
I waited all summer for my father to move that couch so I could get my candy. When he did, I opened the box and poured a bunch of mints into my mouth. I was overjoyed......Then when I stuck my hand in the box to just pick out a couple I found it filled with ants.
So yup, got me some ant-eating done that day too! ....LOL
well, there was a bottle of pepsi sitting in a counter, dad told me NOT to touch it...so what did I do the very moment he turned around ?? I Took a Big healthy swig !! Accckkkk !!! it was NOT Pepsi !! it was Oil !! they had needed to look at the oil, so they put it in a glass containor...a pepsi bottle was all he had handy !!
That learnt me to always Tell my kids WHY I do not want them to do something !! had he Told me there was oil in it instead of pepsi, I would NOT have touched it !!
The most disgusting thing I've accidentally eaten, at least that I KNOW about LOL, is...well let me tell the short story.
I made the mistake of eating too much too late at night on one occasion, and even though I take Prilosec daily, I got a nasty case of reflux. For those of you that have it, I'm sure you're familiar with the sudden rush of acid-filled "stuff" that suddenly shoots up into your mouth, so quick and hard that you can barely breathe - it's actually quite scary until you get it under control. But I digress.
We have a bookcase headboard where back then we used to stow some of our meds (we have dogs now so everything has to be under wraps). I went reaching around in the dark, trying not to wake Jon, and I got my hand around what I thought was the antacid bottle. I opened it, took one from the bottle (I swear it felt just like it should), and stuck it in my mouth and started chewing vigorously.
Remember Lucy when Snoopy kissed her? AAAACCCCKKKK!!! WTF????? OMG THAT'S NASTY!!!! WTF????
So by now Jon's awake and I turned the light on and found myself holding, not the antacid bottle, but the DOG VITAMINS!!! OK I know the secret of the dog vitamins now and why the dogs love them so much - they taste like DRIED DOG POOP!!! OK I don't know what dried dog poop tastes like, but if I could imagine it, it would be JUST LIKE WHAT I JUST ATE!!!!
Figures that the dogs love the stuff - we're talking about animals who think dead rotting things are a delicacy, and on occasion have been known to eat their own vomit. Yeah...so figure out what tastes good to the dogs, and THAT'S what I put in my mouth!!!
I will NEVER forget that taste - it kind of gags me just writing about it!
Dakota, did you actually swallow the oil???
This was not me but my hubby. He was looking straight up at some steel at work, and a lump of pigeon crap fell directly down into his throat. He told me he tried to choke it up, but it wouldn't budge, so he ended up swallowing it!!!
Of course he was fine, but this is the same guy that could leave a mayo/tuna sandwich in his hot car for hours and hours, and only land up burping once or twice. LOL
Not as bad as the bees and ants and spiders.
Oh my! I did not know we eat spiders when we sleep. Can we blame them for our weight gain? LOL.
Seriously, I have very little appetite, yet have gained 30lbs in 4 months. Spiders, maybe?? We need something to blame :)
