88FIn 1969 we decided to get married without a big wedding. Most of our friends and family liked large over the top for the time kind of weddings and I did not. First, I didn't see why spending so much money for one day when we have the rest of our lives to live. I have never regretted not having a big formal wedding. Another issue is not liking all the attention. Also, we have gone to big...

We're all troubled.WSo, to remind ourselves we're not at rock bottom (this is a reverse optimism thing I learned as a kid):We are not living on the island of Krakatoa when the volcano goes boom!Yeah, okay, that sucks.***Toay in 1942, Pierre Laval announced that the way to free France was for Germany to win WW2. Pierre did not win a lot of friends. When the war ended, quite quickly he was tried...

But before I started it, knowing I typically don't do well on antidepressants, I warned both my husband and my mom to watch closely over me and to come to me if I don't recognize the problem changes.
I ended up having reduced pain, but the depression interfered with my daily life and was impeding it. It took a week for me to decide whether or not it was a good idea to go off of it. And the pain, when it came back was truly wicked.
Yet I was advised I shouldn't go through withdrawals because I wasn't on it long enough. And I did taper as well.
But I will say this much. We are in a way, still pioneers of Fibro. And in order to get doctors to help us, they want us to participate in what they view is best in our situation. If that means trying the medications they purpose to combat our problems, then we need to work together with the doctors.
After trying it, you may see that it can help some, or a little or not at all. But then you have more evidence to bring back to the doctor sharing your results.
I have seen some people here successfully use Cymbalta. Some other used Savella (another SNRI) and succeed. While some of us can't use it at all. Some use the above two in combination with other meds to get a more of a life back. While some can only use pain meds/narcotics, and etc. Some can't use any of that and stick to MMJ. And then there are some, like me, who can't use any and stick to supplement juggling.
I wish you the best in finding what works. My biggest advice to you is to keep a Fibro journal. Document each day on your pain levels; what you could do/couldn't do because of your pain; what foods you ate and how they made you feel; how you slept; and what meds you took and how you felt as well; oh and exercise if you were able to, and how you reacted to it.
This is going to be like gold to your doctor in better treating you.
All drugs come with side effects. Manufacturers are required to list every single possibility because we live in a litigious society.
Finding a regimen that works for you will take some time. As you can see, we all have wildly different reactions to the same medication. That is part of what makes Fibromyalgia so damnably hard to treat. Try it and see how it goes. Stay well hydrated with water and expect that you notice side effects. Remember that the longer a chronic pain cycle continues the harder it becomes to manage or stop. It could take as long as 30 days to notices a change in your symptoms. If you find that you really can't tolerate it, go back to the doctor and try something else. None of us take the same medication cocktail. Good luck and take care..
Echoing Fantod... what works for one may not work for another, so we may not have the same meds and treatments.
I will tell you, you need to have great faith in the power of our God, for He designed us and created everything we need to combat illness'. We all are very different, each individuals needs vary.
