I have weeks when my TMJ is really bad. Then it will go away and I won't have a problem for another month. I guess that is like most of our FM pain. It comes and goes (sometimes it stays), and it move around.
Meaning, do you wear a mouth guard? Do you do the warm packs when you feel your jaw tightening up.
But I agree, when things get bad....they are "really really" bad. I get locked up where I can't open my mouth for weeks on end.
I'm a clincher. So I do what I can. The mouth guard helps.
Do you think this would help you?
I have a lot of headaches plus neck and shoulder pain from the Fibro. I am really hoping this helps me....so far so good!

When I first got my braces (at age 35) I had to be very careful to sleep on that side to keep pressure on the jaw, because under the pressure of the wires, the muscle would go into spasm and try to put the jaw out. I don't envy anyone who deals with that - I still have a few occasional problems but it was hellish when it was full-blown TMJ.
I posted a few helpful things to try on TMJ on one of the posts probably mentioned here..regarding a hockey mouth guard. Hope you get some relief.
