We've all been there. Overdoing it during the holiday season. I am usually very careful about what I do, conserving energy and resting so as not to go into a flare. Between the lousy damp rainy weather, a cold, and pushing myself too much last weekend, I couldn't go to work last Monday. Got annoyed with myself because I know better.
So, this is what I'm letting go because I have neither the time, energy nor inclination:
- Not decorating inside the house to look like a winter wonderland. The tree is up and decorated, the wreath is on the front door, and that's good enough for me.
- Not baking Christmas cookies. I do like doing it, but it's just too much for me to manage this year.
- No last-minute Christmas shopping. Got it finished early this year, and did 90% of it online.
- Not over-committing myself. My health and well-being come first. I love my friends and family, but there's only so much of me to go around. If someone's nose gets out of joint because if this, I've decided that's their problem.
Just a reminder to take care of yourself. This can be a very challenging time of year.
The best of the Season to you all!

89FNo energy, just going to do whatever. Sandra, It's hard to move at a certain time in life. You've been in your home forever, at least you'll be able to travel to the beach and enjoy. Oh, we did hear Boris Johnson's tenure ended due to a series of ethics scandals, accusations of dishonesty and a final collapse of government support that forced his recognation. What he didn't do like the...

My cat is going on trial for crimes against skink-anity. SIX in six weeks. Three this last week alone. The crack is maybe 1/4 inche wide. Maybe. Skink skitters past, her paw shoots out, her claw hooks in, she yanks, and somehow, having defied physics... WHAM. Skink-o-rama.Now, don't get me wrong, it's nice that she's a pesticidal maniac, but OMG. Skinks do no harm. They don't come inside. WTF.So,...

As for cookies, I too enjoy giving cookies out but know there is just no way. My secret plan is to get pre-made cookie dough for most and only make from scratch my husbands favorite. If anyone figures it out I'm sure they'll still eat them! Haha.
Thanks for the ideas and the reassurance that not pulling myself 20 directions is not selfish but self care. Merry Christmas!
Madeline is absolutely right ladies and gents. Take care of yourself first! Thanks for a good and timely reminder!
To-Do: Don't overdo!
No Christmas shopping for me this year. We spent our savings getting moved and hubby had the summer off for the move so we had to stretch it even more.
Then on top of that, paid for mom's move back from out of state and in with us. This = no tree or presents. Oh well. If anyone has an issue with it, too bad. I don't care.
Some of hubby's family is coming to stay with us for the holidays (which he invited w/o discussing w/ me 1st) so I'm not playing hostess. They will have to feed themselves. Sorry.
I guess I'm just a grinch this year.
My only mission for the holidays is to take care of myself and SURVIVE it.
I wish us all the best with the holiday season approaching. Sometimes we just need to check in with ourselves.
