I know up here in Ontario. If you have a medical letter stating that you cannot participate. They have to accept it. Speak to your doctor. Make sure it's detailed that you cannot sit for long period of time and that you have to take pain meds. They may back off right there with the pain meds. It will cloud your decision. And they don't want that.

Since they DO Know that FM hits us Primarily in the Hips, shoulders & Neck, this may be your Out..

Or, if they havent gone thru Jury Selection yet..then Screw up ur answers sufficiently enuff that perhaps you WON"T get Picked !!

Contact your doctor and get him to help you with this. I've been dismissed from jury duty before due to health reasons. Just make sure you get the paperwork to the court PDQ so you won't be in contempt of court.

I know all too well what it's like to sit in a court room all day with no respite from all the pain.

Well, if you can't get a note from your doc, you might try being weird. On the tv show, 30 Rock, Liz Lemmon wore Princess Leia ear muffs and a white dress. They let her go.

My husband had to fill out something with tons of questions and then ended up being one of the twelve from a field of 300+ people,, it's likely you'd be eliminated before then anyway, unless you mean you've been through it already and are there.

If you have friends or family who are in law enforcement that can keep you off jury duty because they assume you will be predjudiced in favor of the prosecution. Not sure about how that works with grand juries, though. I would call my doctor first thing Monday morning. All they have to do is write a letter saying you are unable to serve.

Call the court clerk and explain sitting on a jury would aggravate your condition. If all else fails tell them you think anyone who is arrested is guilty as charged. they will let you go without questions!

I was just dismissed from service with a doctor's note. My doctor faxed a letter to the court which stated I had Fibromyalgia and could barely walk. Just call up the Jury Commissioner's office and ask what they need and get the deadline date. My doctor was slow to get the letter done which had me in contempt for a day or two! All is well now.

yep if there is a medical reason your not a good choice they will excuse you. Not to mention they really dont want someone that is clogged up with pain and pain eds decideing te fate of the occused..... generally so they often wont select you to be part of the actual trial if you make it know you suffer massive pain and are medicated....

There is also the ignor feature. They have no way of confirming that you actually recieved the summons and there for dont do anything about it.... I dont know how many Ihave actually ignored.... I know not the best citizen in the world but well ya thats just one more stressor I dont need

I got a letter telling me i was to report for jury duty,there was NO way i could sit at this time or anything else at the time...So i called the Court House and spoke to a lady there and explained my illness to her and she took me off the list...I would like to serve and do my duty,but with illness i just can't.Just call and see what the court house has to say...HUGS

I just recieved a jury duty summons about a month ago my doctor wrote a letter I mailed it to them and thats all they needed. I was worried about the same thing there would have been no way I could have sat through that. Hope this helps and good luck. Hugs wynow

i got a letter from my dr. it's very easy. they have to accept it. i would have liked to do it once, but never could. first, there's no child care available, and when they were grown, there was no sr.care, and i took care of my mother. now, i can't sit that long. foolish to think so. couldn't take the stress, either. or the arguments. not well enough for that. drs. agree.
