I dont know if anyone has posted this info yet..

The Social Security budget has been announced and the increase for 2008 is the LOWEST it has been in many years, 2.3% which translates to about 24 dollars for the average person.

The Cost of Medicare will be going up 3,1% which translates to an increased basic payment of $96.40(some people do pay more) Changes take effect in January..

That 24 dollars a month is going to pay for the 3.1 percent increase in Medicare. So in essence it isn't an increase at all...

I heard our Medicare Part D copays are going up also.

You are right on. Don't you just love the higher increase in Medicare and the lower increase in benefits? However, I am so glad the package is there. I do not know where we would, personally, be without it. I pray the government will find a way to lower medical costs while providing care for all. That has got to be one of the things this great country of ours will address immediately. While I do not want the government choosing who I see, what drugs I do or do not take, and whether I am worthy of medical care at a given level, I do want to see medical costs reduced and everyone get the absolute best medical available. I know Oprah had a question on her website one day when she had Michael Moore on asking if a gas station attendant and a professional of some sort should receive the same level of care. I don't think I ever saw the results of that survey. My answer is absolutely. What you do for a living, how much you earn, should have absolutely no bearing on the level of care you receive. Every human being is equal, and should receive the same level of care. My two cents!
