ON CHRISTMAS DAY WE HAD A HAM DINNER. WITH OUR ONE SON. THAT WAS A QUIET DAY.
NEW YEARS WE SLEPT THROUGH IT. LOL!
OUR HOLIDAY WASN'T AS EXCITING AS YOURS BUT WE ENJOYED IT!
Christmas Eve together and then a quiet Christmas day is a good plan.
I apparently over did it during the holidays - now I have a pinched nerve in my neck. Overdoing it and the mammogram from hell.
My husband, 16 yr old son, and I had a good big dinner on Christmas Eve. - hubby got a turkey from his work so he made a Turkey day meal again. Then we did something different and opened our gifts at midnight - it was fun and then we didn't have to rush in the morning to have our Christmas at home before going to my Dads like every Christmas. My dog was heaven with her new toys, bone, and treats.
New Years Eve night the three of us went to see The Hobbit.
2 of my brothers did not come home for Christmas this year - that was a hummed. Hopefully, they will come next Christmas.
We had a fun holiday....went to church services Christmas Eve with family, and then had Christmas Day dinner at my oldest daughter's house. The whole family was there, mine and hubby's parents and family, plus my daughter's in-laws. We even got to Skype with my other daughter in S. Korea! We did White Elephant gifts, so that was fun :)
So overall, a fun time.....I was tired afterward, of course, but all good. We crashed on New Years too! LOL
HUGS from down south :)
Wow, Christmas here was a whirlwind.
Christmas eve at in laws.
Christmas morning here at home with the kiddos then off to my mom's house for the full on Christmas day event.
We kept things casual this year. Just h'ordervey kind of foods. Which kept the stress down for everyone.
But leading up to that was my traditional holiday candy making events. If I don't see another chocolate covered cherry or caramel for at least 6 more months, I'll be happy, LOL. But I make my sisters gifts she hands out in her office and then I make them for the teachers. This year I made a new kind a truffle. I wasn't too crazy about the chocolate overload, so I modified the recipe and created something new and delicious...they were so good I decided to sprinkle them with edible glitter and call them Diva Truffles.
Then after the holidays were done, I got sick with the flu. LOL, and I didn't mind all of the resting!
Tonight is our last Christmas event. We have the hubby's company party. We'll crash at the hotel and then it's all done for the year!
I was gonna ad, Blue, I don't know how you did it all. Christmas with the entire family....wedding reception.....running here and there, etc.
Now to plan the honeymoon. Since you live in the most tropical locations, where would you pick to go to?
Tgik...sounds like a great holiday. I happily slept through New Years too!
Milly...as I grew older, we too used to open on Christmas Eve for those same reasons.
Cajun...I bet your daughter was in heaven having everyone there. Those gifts sound like fun. We gave my niece a Justin Beiber poster...she *hates* him. She thought that was her only gift from us until we handed her the real gift.
Cajun, wow... sounds like you had a ton of family to deal with, too. lol. But sounds fun!
Wonderbaby, chocolate chocolate chocolate! Yeah.... sounds good for like one day. I'd be sick of it too after that. lol.
Well, technically my hubby and I legally got married in Aug, but we planned for the wedding and reception not till Dec when family would be in town (I know, right? What a zoo!). So we already had a honeymoon back in Aug. ---BUT--- don't worry we are planning a second one! ; p
Possibly to go to Maui or the Big Island.... don't know yet. It won't happen till spring break (Jeff is a teacher, we have to wait till school is out).
We had my mom and her hubby, daughter, her hubby and granddaughter stay overnight on Christmas eve, then had a big supper for everyone, including my dad and his renter (he would have been alone). All went well until my dad accidentally fed my mom's dog turkey (he was trying to feed his own dog), then there was a bit of yelling. We calmed everyone down. My dad was asked nicely numerous times to not feed the dog while over here (he lives next door) and what does he do, feed him right from the table! sigh.
I spent Christmas eve cleaning, changing beds, etc....and Christmas day cooking and cleaning! The only benefit was seeing the granddaughter...she's so lovely!!!
On New Year's eve day, I had a CT Scan in Regina, so we decided to get together with our friends from there and she invited us to spend the night. We went out for supper, then put on our glitter party top hats and went to a movie. The people at the theatre were making comments how they loved our hats, wanted a hat like that, smiled at us, said "Happy New Year" etc.! It was a fun thing to do..and we weren't even drinking! lol We then sang karaoke until about 4 a.m. CT scan came back good..no internal damage! yea!
I ate way too much, did way too much and now trying to cope. I have a massage and hair appt booked for this week, and plan to pamper myself!!! lol
