If I have one week a month without some medical thing to do, I am so happy! It seems like almost every week I have one or two days of running to this doctor or that medical lab, etc. It gets so tiring.
So I understand what you are saying, and that you need a rest from all of that. So take a short break, relax and breathe freely. Then after a brief respite, get back on the merry-go-round of medical work.
But don't rest too long before starting back up on all the standard tests, ok? Take care.
The colonscopy can come later, you have to drink miralax and clean yourself out really good before the colonscopy so that's why you cant have surgery and a colonscopy at the same time.
Trouble about getting older we seem to have more health issues to deal with, well some of us and fibro doesn't help it all.
Good luck you will be in my thoughts.
So sorry to hear about everything that is happening to you right now. At least I know I'm not the only one who had a bad May & there is no telling what June will bring - well, another birthday (#64).
My good ole doc retired in February so I had to seek out another one. Went in for my 1st visit on May 14th mainly to get my blood pressure med refilled. BP was good but not my heart rate so they did an EKG (abnormal results) & put me on meds.
Took one pill of the 1st one & developed a severe side effect within 4 hours so they put me on another one the next day.
Have to have your blood checked frequently while on this one so I have had it done 5 times in 2 weeks - readings have been all over the board. Also went to a heart doc last week - that was almost a waste. Now I have an echogram scheduled for Monday.
Did I forget to mention that I have a severe chemical sensitivity to most prescription drugs. Well I sure did to all of the docs but I might as well have been spitting into the wind. Since I have been on this last one, I have an upset stomach, headaches, some of the wildest dreams in my life not to mention that my pain level just continues to rise & my energy level just continues to drop.
Have talked to 3 pharmacists as well as both doctors about all of my side effects & 4 of the 5 tell me that the med can't be the cause of my new side effects. Didn't have them until I started the med.
Yes, fibro is a pain to have & a bigger pain to live with. It seems to cause so many other problems that we often don't worry about these other health issues.
Sorry to vent on top of your vent but do know that you are not alone in your journey down the fibro highway. Will pray for you.
It's important to make sure you allow yourself "Vacation" time from all things medical. As Magic stated, the colonoscopy while important can be done later. Please don't put off the surgery if at all possible. From my experience Drs do not perform surgeries for the heck of it. Just get it done and over with so you don't have to worry. I know you're scared about the pain but these days the incisions are so small the pain may be minimal. The consult w/ the surgeon should ease any fears.
I wish you the best and hope you can find some peace and balance.
my brother has been in the hospital 3-4 times (he needs a liver transplant)
my Aunt has been in 2-3 times (collapsed lung after back surgery)
my mom had 3/4 of her stomach thru her diaphragm - emergency surgery,
my FIL had double pneumonia & was in the hospital,
my MIL had a bad attack with COPD & was in the hospital,
my HS friend has a son with cancer who was cancer free last year & now it came back (surgery Friday - still in the hospital)
My other friend's nephew was born with a bad heart & he's still in the hospital,
another friend had bronchitis in March, Strep throat in April & now pneumonia in May.
And I could STILL go on.
2013 is proving an unlucky year for many!
