Get out with friends more often...once weekly if physically able, even if it's only for coffee.
Nip negative self-talk in the bud (took this from Shakota's list!).
Walk outside at least three times a week (if bad weather, then walk inside).
Problem is most things on the list are there year after year. Maybe this year will be different.
I know the isolation, I keep thinking about my mom and her friends after she retired, they were always doing something, go somewhere or at least some social thing. I don't even go to bingo anymore and haven't for years. I guess cause my husband retired and he doesn't like it. I don't miss the bingo, its the social time.
I love hanging out with the grandbabies, they make us smile don't they. Now I have pneumonia and husband sick with sinus infection, so haven't seen them much. Getting grandkid fever. They sure help make life happy.
For the negative talk, I say that everyday and it slips out.
I was thinking of one my older friend when she was alive. I wish I could be like her, she was always happy, Always telling some good memory, always laughing and enjoying life.
I have good memories but I don't think or don't make a point of talking about them. Of course the bad memories of my mom and my sister pop up often, which I need to just bury.
I think when we live in pain 24/7 its hard not to kick ourselves but what good does it do. Doesn't make us feel better, does it? No. Maybe try to think of a good memory or make a good memory everyday or week.
I never heard of Laura Hillebrand, but will check it out. Thanks.
I want to scream to my husband, life is passing us by and why don't you want to do anything. I will take anything then him laying on the couch watching NCIS 24 hr marathon or only time he livens up is to go to an auction. Maybe that's why women, have women friends and go places with them. I don't have friends anymore, like I did, Most have passed away or cant do anything.
Rachel, good one about walking. I use to walk everyday and used my WI. Got out of that good habit too. Try to get my husband to do it and he wont. Guess I keep feeling I get beat down everytime but yet don't feel good enough to go out on my own.
We were planning to go to Florida after xmas to escape our unusual cold weather but got sick and haven't yet. That's why I can work on though, a motorhome trip to Florida. I mentioned it to my husband and he cant even get excited or act interested. He drags me down instead of saying good idea, lets go.
I just don't want to wait to die.
I guess the whole idea is to live with the joy of just being alive. Got to work at it.
