Happy Flag Day to the US. Why does the US have a Flag Day? I have no idea. APparently it commemorates the day the flag design was approved in 1777, but it started in 1885, b/c a guy in Wisconsin said we needed a day to just ooh-ahh at our flag. Look, I'm not anti-American or whatever, but a holiday for a piece of cloth? Ummm.... not really gonna go bake a cake about it.
Allegedly, the flag is a uniting symbol. Given what is done with the basic design, yeah, no.
Oddly enough, however, the colors do have meaning. Red is valor/strength; white is purity/innocence; and blue is vigilance and justice. These three colors appear on the following national flags as the only three colors:
US
UK
Australia
New Zealand
France
Belize, Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, and Croatia too!
Add in the following to round it off. It's a popular triad, apparently:
Czech Republic/Czechia
North Korea (Yep)
Iceland
Liberia (one star, not 50, check your flag emojis, folks!)
The Netherlands
Luxembourg
Norway
Panama
Paraguay
Slovenia
Slovakia
Russia
And.... Thailand
Yeah. I looked at the flags of the world and listed 'em. Why did I do that? It's now Flag Day for sure ;-D
Most territories tend to have similar colors, but I'm not listing all of 'em. Good grief. UK alone would be .... No. Just no.
If you're curious?
Orange represents courage and sacrifice
Yellow is wealth/sun/happiness
Green is hope and/or fertility
Black is used to represent victory over enemies or ethnic heritage
Purple is just not there. Oh well!
Actually, Dominica and Nicaragua both have a little purple on their flags. It's the traditional color of royalty in Western cultures ---- b/c good purple dye was, until the last 120 years or so, made of squishing snails for their goo. Yeah. Kinda expensive. REALLY expensive, in fact.
And that's why you don't see purple on flags :-)

Happy Tuesday to all

Welcome to the Perseid meteor showers, the "biggies" usually every year. (The Leonids beat 'em one year IMHO).AND today much of the northern hemisphere will see 5 to 99% solar eclipse. How cool is that? Your best bet is to be in the UK or norhtern Spain, where totality is excellent before sundown. Me, I'll get a super duper tiny itty bitty slice of it, so little that it won't be noticeable. New...

... observed a solar eclipse.

Very interesting about the flags, did not realize so many had red white and blue leo!
Friend is coming in less than an hour with her 3 yr old, its been a couple months due to my health. Glad they are coming but warned her i was not able to wash and do my hair yet due to pain! At least she is someone i dont have to worry about judging me over it!
I also have my case manager coming later i think its at 1pm. I really would like to cancel but most likely wont. I try not to cancel unless i really really need too.
Angela, glad PT listened to you and didn't cause so much pain this time. Enjoy the time with your friend
I'm so freaking tired. Yesterday work calmed down a little midday but then the craziness resumed. Today hasn't been so bad but I'm not over yesterday. I did put in the schedule that I'm leaving early though, we only have appointments until 3 instead of 7, and my coworker left early several days last week for something. I called dibs on today, basically. To be fair, I worked Wednesday and Friday afternoons alone last week and will be doing the same this week. I would like to say I'll get something done this afternoon but realistically I'll either take a nap, or go to bed really early. Or maybe both. My head is all over the place right now, bad PTSD anniversary coming up on Thursday. Luckily I'm off this Thursday like normal and I won't have to see people. I hope after this week I'll have a shred of motivation to get stuff done. All I want to do now is lie around and sleep.
You are correct, Leo. I have hardly picked up my phone. My back/SI joint on the right, went out on Sunday. I can barely walk. People have been coming over and letting Brewer out. I can hardly get to the bathroom.
Hey, a Wisconsin guy started flag day. I did not know that. On Wisconsin! No wonder we have parades and everything.
Leo, hope you are doing okay. I haven’t been reading the last few days.
Angela, hope you have a good time with your company today. And the pain lets up.
Miki, my whole summer is one long PTSD event. I hate every summer. I’m glad you are leaving work early. You deserve it so much.
My husband took me to see my pain doctor yesterday. I’m needing a walker right now. My pain level was so bad that my BP was 162/85. My normal is 120/70. Even my pulse ox was down. He did give me pain killers. The pain was affecting my health. He sent me for some pelvic X-rays, and bilateral SI joint X-rays as well. We still have my appointment for the SI joint injection on the 20th. He gave me enough pain meds for until then.
Nothing much else to tell. Hands are still hurting of course. My surgery is one month from yesterday.
Blessings to all.
Merry, i am glad your surgery is only a month away and sorry you are on a walker :( I am glad they gave you pain meds to help right now! I have issues with my SI joints too they get very inflamed causing massive pain :( I hope the meds help you!
Had a good time with my friend. Madeline met her first kid, hes 3 and he did very well with her she loved him. Except when he got loud, When we told him he was scaring madeline and abby he calmed right down, he has a lot of compassion towards animals and people, especially for a 3 year old, his moms doing great with him :) Shes a special ed teacher. We been great friends our entire lives (our moms were best friends way before we were even born) Only thing is her little guy turned 3 in feburary and still will not potty train, he just cries and gets upset on the toilet so she ordered a book on amazon that comes highly recommended that gives many different ways to potty train not just one way. She hates that 3 day potty training book, she said its too much pressure both on the kid and the parents!
Puma healing purrs to everyone. I'm off to make jam. That or the fruit goes bad.
I am still trying to mostly take it easy for emotional and physical reasons due to Fridays mess and going to the ER Saturday. Waiting to find out if my ex is coming to Michigan tomorrow because his Dad died isnt helping the emotional part.
My knees and muscles in my legs have been horribly painful. Yesterday I also kept having spasms in my left thigh.
Hands and hips are not great either.
I think I had a major stress response re what happened in my house Friday and the people not listening to me etc. . So , my mission is to try to be Zen.
Very hot and steamy here . We have a heat advisory today and tomorrow . I hate it .
I appreciate all of you and having a safe place here.
Leo-- Adding "start my own country put purple on the flag " to my list.
AngelaJo-- Glad you had a nice visit. My cat didn't like children or most men or my MIL.
Miki-- Here's to getting out early and NOT being productive!
Merry-- Sorry you are in so much pain. Glad you were able to get some kind of help.
Laying on my back porch contemplating a nap right here!
