I used a quarter of a lemon for juice and 1/4 tsp baking soda for my acid reflux. No much of a change in that but it sure has cleaned me out every time I've used it.
Joke here at home is I cannot go out in the a.m., early if i drank the lemon juice w/water the day before. this is from someone who has used fiber pills, probiotics, peanut butter, etc etc etc. Sure is something cheap to try.
Good luck sweetie that sounds just awful for you.
You are the best.
Best wishes...
I feel the same disappointment in doctors that you do. They just want to run tests and pad their bank accounts.
Good luck in finding a solution. You've gotten some good advice and this is just a suggestion. My doc thought the Miralax would be the " miracle cure" and was shocked when it didn't work. He also told me to sparingly use MOM. Also, I avoid sweets/sugar.
Sorry your going through this and others here and hope some of the ideas that have helped others will be helpful for you too.
I would maybe find a different doctor to see if you can.
Take care
gentle hugs
You probably have what's known as subclinical hypothyroidism where your blood tests are all within the normal range but you have symptoms of hypothyroidism such as the constipation that leads to an impacted bowel. That's what happened to me, and no one, not even the endocronologist picked it up. She put me on thyroid hormone as I had been in a flare for months and was deathly ill at least 6 days a week. She thought maybe the thyroid hormone would stimulate my pituitary gland or something. It resolved my constipation and my eyebrows started growing back. When I told my PCP about it and that my eyebrows were growing back, he exclaimed 'it's OBVIOUS you've had thyroid disease for YEARS!!!!!' I think the words just kind of fell out of his mouth without thinking. Now, with my other doctor, even when my labs are normal, I point to his words to back up the fact that I need just a little bit of the hormone to keep things working properly.
I want to comment too on what shellseeker says about 5-htp. If you aren't familiar with it, it puts serotonin into both the gut and brain. 95% of all our serotonin is in the gut which is why when you get nervous, your GI tract starts acting up. Serotonin helps speed the food through the GI tract.
