Fibromyalgia Support Group
You're not alone in your pain. Fibromyalgia is a condition that can be difficult to diagnose and manage. If you're trying to cope with pain throughout your body, sleep problems, general fatigue, or other common fibromyalgia symptoms, you're in the right place. The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.
I would be concerned, also, that your dr didn't do an xray first. Do you feel like you could have injured yourself somehow, though?
Good luck with the PT. I remember doing it for some time for my neck and upper back a couple years ago, and the best part for me was the heat, ultrasound, and cervical traction. Maybe some might think that's off the wall, but the traction helped me SOO much. Felt like it took so much pressure off my neck. Therapist tried to get me a good home unit, but the stupid insurance company made it nearly impossible...so after frustration I gave up-which is probably what they bank on.
Take care and feel better. :o)
It's something to look into maybe. That's a long time to have a pinched nerve!
It frustrates me that PT seems to be a "one-size-fits-all" answer these days. For many of us it can make things worse instead of better, as many PTs don't understand fibromyalgia or that "normal" isn't part of our lives no matter what they do.
Traction did help me when I had a neck injury. As someone else said, it seemed to take the pressure off.
