Ten to twenty minutes on a treadmill a day is good for me, and I try keep moving.
One of my go-to rubs is Sombra Warm Therapy Natural Pain Relieving Gel. I buy an eight ounce jar through Amazon. I also use SalonPas, RX Lidocaine patches and Flector patches. I like the Sombra gel the best.
When I'm sitting, you'll always find me with one or two moist heating pads on.
I live with biofreeze. I call it my perfume. I use it on my neck and shoulders the most. A lot of people here use Arnica gel, which I plan to get today. A friend takes it in capsule form as well.
One thing I have learned though this journey is to pace myself. If I need to get the house clean, I do it in steps. No more marathon of cleaning for me.
I hope this helps. Stretching will help too.
I have to get up frequently and twist and kind of do mild jumping jacks---all of this to remain at the computer for two hours. My upper back, neck, shoulders, arms, and hands are the daily culprits. Sometimes it's my shins and thighs if I've done exercises.
There are studies that show that walking (preferably in a nice natural setting) tones down the pain. So regular exercise is a key component of pain control. But of course, you have to stay within your limits, or else!
The only cream that is recommended (as being useful) by the knee osteoarthritis docs is capsaicin. It's hot peppers and it's a pain in the ass (litterally?) to use sometimes, because you have to keep your hands off the applied areas. However, it works over a long time period (daily or twice a day application). Look for a roll-on formulation. It's handy. It does dampen down the pain level where it's applied.
I use a generic Bengay extra strength for immediate relief (but it lasts only 20 minutes). And can't use it around other people---because they hate it. Better, stronger, more effective than most anything else I've tried (tiger balm, etc).
Hot baths, cold packs, Netflix and a heating pad. I hope you get some good relief soon!!!
Biofreeze is good, but Voltaren/Pennsaid are the best ever. I tried capsaicin or bengay or something like that one night and must have used too much....burned my arse for several days lol Could hardly shower even or walk in the sun.
I am a little different from what others have mentioned here. It does not help me to keep moving. If I do, I get extreme fatigue and a lot more pain.
The cream I use is from a company called doterra. They sell essential oils. The cream is called Deep Blue. It's peppermint and eucalyptus, among other things. I like it a lot. I hope you find relief.
