I went to the VA on Thursday for a neurology follow up..... 1st of all the intern doing her rounds in the neurology clinic that day saw me 1st before my doc came in to see me. She looked over my medical history READING IT OUT LOUD, "So you have a history of chronic migraines, insomnia, fibromyalgia, ...etc, etc, etc...." And then she had the gall to ask me, "So why aren't you working?"
I couldn't believe the words that came out of her mouth!!
Anyway, when my neurologist finally came in the appt when well. But then after my appt was over I found out that the VA had SWITCHED MY PCP WITH OUT MY KNOWLEDGE OR CONSENT!
I've had my doctor for years! I like her! She KNOWS me! She is very nice, and she'll even pray for you! I don't want to start over again with a new doc (that know absolutely NOTHING about me) because every time that happens, it's like starting over from scratch, plus they change all my meds on me. And I don't feel like being a lab rat all over again!
I filled out a form at the registration desk requesting a switch.... but the lady told me I could end up with whatever PCP they end up giving me! I wrote on the form to give me back my original one! I'm so upset! They said they would call me about it.

Can they do that? I know it's hard to go civilian, and there is rumor that they are trying to make that more accessible since the recent screw ups at the VA's last year.
I'm so sorry this happened. I don't do well when I have a set doc and they up and leave also.

Hope you can get it changed back. Yet if you can't try to be as positive as possible. My new PCP is actually better than my earlier one so I did luck out - yet I sweated who I would get. Keep us informed as to what is happening with you okay. Soldier on!
