My 2 year old had the swine flu about a month ago and did ok you could hardly tell that her was sick untill at night.Now he has taken a backset of it and is very sick.I have been up 3 nights with him and he keeps getting worse.I had him to the dr on Monday and the dr put him on Tamiflu and changed his nebulizer meds and told me call him if he got any worse.His 0=2 level was at 93 at that point which isn't too bad but not real good either.
He did OK during the day today except when he took his nap he had a real bad coughing fit and we got him up and held him so he could sleep.He does better if he's not laying down.Tonight he got real bad and I had to give him his breathing treatment and hour early,it still took 15 minutes to calm the coughing.I called the dr he told me that if he didn't calm down within 10 minutes to get him to the ER and even if he did calm down to bring him in first thing in the morning and to expect to be admitted to the hospital if he's no better.I am very worried about him because he has so many other problems and has always had problems with his lungs.
Then on top of it all when I went to warm the car up in case I had to take him the battery was dead on the car.I called my parents and put them on alert in case he needs to go so I've got that covered but still of all the times for the car not to start!!!

Hope he's feeling better soon.
This child is my grandson but I am in the process of adopting him and his brother.He was born with 6 different drugs in his system and had a stroke either during or right after birth.So as I am sure you all will understand when he gets this sick it scares me to death.Thank you all so much for your support and prayers.I love you all!!!
I know how wicked this illness is. I have a 4 & 2yr old boys. And we were in and out of the ER/ doctors offices every other day with this crap! I've NEVER seen an illness like this....unless you compare it to someone on Chemo getting an infection!!!
If holding your little guy during his nap helps...do it. I spent my days and nights like that. And the fevers can spike in the matter of minutes. So, your pediatrician is right...if it happens, rush to the ER.
In the mean time, call a neighbor to see if you can't get your car battery jumped. Let it run for a good 20-30 minutes to get that battery to charge some. I hate the cold weather as it wreaks havoc on the batteries.
But just trust your instincts. And my prayers are with you. I didn't sleep for 4 days while the boys were sick. I ended up with it, but I was put on Tamiflu right away.....I know God was with me during those 4 days. And I know He will be with you now.
It'll be okay. Hard...but okay.
It's a flemmy, wet cough...sometimes hard to produce anything...but it lingers. So if your little guy may need the neb for a while longer after the flu passes.
My guys are the chronic croup sort of little ones. We nebbed for a while. That month was challenging as they get so "wound up" from the medicine. We had to switch from Albuterol to Xopenex.
