that at least 75% of the people in East Tennessee have fibro and most of them don't even realize that is what is wrong with them and I tend to beleive him.He seems to think it has alot to do with the climate here.I live in foothills of the Great Smokey Mountains,almost into North Carolina[15 minute drive to state line].It is so beautiful here that I don't ever want to live anywhere else again.I have lived in other places and couldn't stand it.I got so homesick,I had to come home to my mountains.
He also said that most drs don't beleive fibro is a real disease and that they refuse to treat for it.He told me that most of the clients sent to him are sent for other reasons when it's really fibro that's their biggest problem.The first time I went to him he told me that he beleived that I had fibro and started treating me for it.I have other problems as well but he said he feels that the fibro was inhansing them and I beleive him because I do feel alot better after starting the LYRICA.I am still in alot of pain but it's no where like it was before meeting him.

75% and they don't realize it and the doctors don't believe it? That sounds very very strange to me.

I do get what you mean about mountains though. That's one of the top things I miss about NY....Florida has nothing except a few buildings every once in a while...and I live right in Orlando so *shrugs*

YEAAA ! U found a good DR. ! One that believes in Fibro and believes you ! I hope you are on the road to better days. I'm so glad you have found relief.

75% seems like an incredible amount of people. Do you know of others in your vicinity that have it? I am wondering also, why there would be such a concentration? I am glad you found a dr. that is treating your FMS, sometimes they are hard to find.

so ? why does he think there is such a large amount in my area? give you a reason!
i have o be by water ocean river =my own large pondin back yard=i put it in the middle of the yard so i walk around it for exercise= yes in my pj's= i have a hign privacy fence!
but i also love the mountains but usally very poor living conditions! unless in a large city! ? no good water ? run off from mountains or smog getting stuck down in valleys!?

Maybe it's something in the water Mamawx4! ;) I was raised in Seymour, TN...the foothills of the Great Smoky Mtns...& I have Fibro too! LOL! ;)

mamawx4, what is your doctor's reasoning behind his belief? Ok, he believes 75% in that area have FM, but WHY? I'm really curious as to his reasoning.
Congrats on finding a good doctor! They are so few and far between, but there out there!

Hope he keeps you fm under control!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He said he didn't know why but he had been here 10 years and in all that time most of the people sent to him he ended up treating for fibro.His wife is a ruematoligist[sp?]and she treats a lot of people for fibro who are sent to her for arthritis.They are doing a study of their own trying to figure this out.I have known about fibro for several years,just didn't know exactly what it was until I was diagnosed.I know of several people here and in NC who have it.I suspect that my sister and mother both have it also.Sometimes they both get to where they can't hardly walk for no reason that their drs can find.I am taking my mother to my dr's wife next month for treatmeant of her arthritis and I have a feeling she will tell me what I already suspect.

my doc told me it is they think from some vaccination we received in school as children, i think they are holding out on the info to avoid major law suits. she just sort of said it quietly, don't you remember feeling well? i do, i used to love life, as a child, even though i grew up in a abusive household, physically and sexually, i still was happy. then they gave me this one vaccination, that didn't heal for a long time, it was all sticky and gooey, my mom was worried about it, then i got a rash all the time for years after, a sort of lacey rash, not raised when ever i got cold. i think they know what caused fibro, they being the cdc, but will not say, they are proably waiting for us all to die,.

75 percent of people in E. tennessee have this ?? and Dr.s there don't believe in FM...well...Dr.s here don't either...as a Matter of fact most Dr. everywhere Do Not believe..

well...they believe in it...but that it is the "Physical Symptoms of Depression" and that a Therapist is who needs to deal with us,..not an MD...

the Problem with that scenerio...is that my Symptoms Worsen THEN I get Depressed...not the other way around..get tired of Feeling poorly..get tired of being a burden..I Had PLANS dammit...this was not in my Plans...so I get a bit Pissy from time to time...but 99.9 percent og the time it is the direct result of a Flare that puts me into these Moods...I don't get moody THEN start to hurt.

In that case, I wouldn't rule out Lyme's being the cause of everyone's Fibro??? Something to consider. I ended up getting my "free" Lyme's testing kits from that company I emailed a while back. Most of the tests start at $250 so don't think I'll be sending anything soon! LOL

That is the same way here in Idaho. But I haven't always lived her. Every where I have live I have licved sometimes within 5 miles of a nuclur site. I have an uncle that calls it a down wider affect. Maybe it is somethiung like that there if it such a high number of people. All the coal mines or somethin in the water I would the EPA out there checking every aspect of what was going on. Here they did find radio active isatos (Spelling)in the Snake River, but then is was hushed up really quick. And we never heard anything about it again. And we are about 45 mile away from the nulcar site here. I am very happy you found a good doctor they are far and far inbetween!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah... you know that if a doctor prescribes a lot of certain drugs (Lyrica is one) they can earn luxury vacation trips to the Bahamas?

That Lyrica can really mess you up. In my book, it's pure poison.

The Nationwide numbers of FM sufferers are anywhere from 3-8% To say that 75% have it is really outlandish.

I could believe that 75% of the people who come to him because they're sick have it, but what about all the well people who don't come to him.

I'd beware of anything this guy has to say. Over 17 years, I've run into two docs just like this and one almost killed me.
