When I took Lyrica, I found that my legs didn't swell on days when i worked out at the gym. I worked out a lot until I became suicidal - from that tiny, Godforsaken pill.
What about your thyroid? Doc ruled out diabetes, right?
I have several skin issues below my knees that I thought were related to either poor circulation or peripheral neuropathy. I've long found pure jojoba oil to provide some relief from the dryness but recently, I added an equal amount of tea tree oil and my skin color changed. Where it used to be blotchy red and purple is suddenly normal. So, maybe the discoloration was fungal??? The dryness, too?
It stands to reason that our feet, ankles and calves would be most affected by germs we pick up while running around barefoot.
MIGHT have been on the website from the olive leaf extract, and yes, it might have beena fungal issue. The peeling off in sheets, is that what it's doing?

and it was a staph infection. I THINK.
But you're saying the cracking/ peeling is from the edema?
Swelling I'm not sure about. Sounds like a different problem. I do get swelling but have no idea of the cause.
Soaking feet in Epsom Salts helps. Ice helps swelling. I sometimes use Lidoderm patch on painful feet. Keeping them propped up seems to help a lot. Not walking on them at all helps the most.
I use to get bad swelling in my feet and legs from antiinflammatories, but now I cant take those. Hope you are better soon.
Don't let your doctor give up until he can give you an answer.
Hope you get back on your feet ok soon.
The culprit, I figured out, was salt. Not saying that is your issue, but I've have noticed that when I'm all swollen up the next day...it's because I had too much salt the day prior.
Have you checked out the post on the "CHI" machine? This little machine gently massages the legs, while increasing circulation.
Have you tried support hose? These work really well if put on before getting out of bed in the morning. You could apply your skin cream first, and then roll up the stocking or hose, starting at the toe, and gently roll the stocking in place, without pulling. Check with your doc first though!
