Moving sucks

So I have now moved for the second time in 3 months...as if the first time wasn't bad enough (flare, stress, getting into a minor car accident the next day because I was too tired to watch the road, etc), we have broken our lease-which is expensive, btw-and moved into a townhouse. Now I will probably sound insane to most of you, but the reason we moved is because the apartment we were living in found out we had 3 cats. Their limit is 2 pets (we could have 2 great danes if we wanted, but not 3 cats). My boyfriend came home one day after maintenance was fixing something to a note saying if we didn't get rid of one within 7 days we'd be evicted-and they wouldn't budge, even if we paid more. So several panic attacks later a friend/my boyfriend's sister agreed to care for one of them while we found a new place and here we are. I ended up doing the lion's share of the packing since my boyfriend had to clock in like 80 hours this week, I've been awake since 4:30 am and it's now just about 11:00 pm and I'm totally wired/waiting for the inevitable flare to set in. Luckily this time we moved about 4 miles down the road so most of our stuff is unpacked, just have to hang pictures, etc. Worth it to have all 3 of my "children" back though...

Oh, I so feel for your plight. I once moved 2 times in 3 months, before I had fibro, and I was exhausted. And all that unpacking for you. I sure don't envy what you are going through. Try and pace yourself with breaks in between.

Sorry you had to move because of a poor kitty.... I remember facing something like that in high school. That landlord was so pissed at us. lol.

I just moved 3 weeks ago and still getting back to normal from the fibro attack. I hope that flare passes right over you! Shoo flare, shoo!

Thanks guys. The pain is mercifully not as bad as the last move because this time we have the luxury of moving over the course of 2 weeks-meaning I got some stuff moved in last weekend, and there is still some stuff in the old apartment that we still need to bring to the townhouse. Plus we didn't have to clean the same day, I am going back this week for that. And the cats (now that they've reacquainted themselves), love the extra space-only issue is one of them is a huge mommy's boy who wailed all night long the first night, until I came downstairs to sleep on the couch with him. I got like 3 hours of sleep the whole night but last night was better (for me and the cat). Just gotta make sure I don't fall asleep at the wheel on my way home from work tonight-i have come very close several times.

Oh, I can relate to the craziness of moving having just had to do this myself. I did it a year and a half ago not by choice and again not by choice this last month. I did the same thing driving the night I moved in. I wasn't familiar with the crazy roads with four lanes two of them veering off to the left and ended up in the next lane. This guy nearly ran me off the road as if I did it on purpose! Texas roads are wonky anyway, but I vowed to keep myself indoors for a few days until I got some rest! I am so completely exhausted I got the flu.
Take care of yourself, moving is a major stressor and causes a major flare. Hope this was a good and final move for you. Mine is a good one. I plan on staying here for a while. Really peaceful, surrounded by nature and finally, quiet!

Oh, no! Jrk, Gentle ease and healing to you. I didn't even move *me* 3 weeks ago (moved my mom out of my house) and I've been flat ever since!

My week is finally over...at least for the most part. And not a moment too soon, because I was so overtired/painful/stressed that I found myself sobbing because I hit traffic on my way home from work this afternoon (I was literally that upset that I couldn't relax for that extra 30 minutes). But now I am off until Monday, then I'm off for a week starting Tuesday because I took vacation time for a trip that I couldn't afford to take with the move. So now I'm off to spend the rest of the evening cuddling with my kitties, and maybe my boyfriend too.

You know, this makes me think of 'comfort animals'. I wonder if there is a legal way around landlords like this. With some help from your doctor, next time.

I am glad you have some time off after moving. Take time to take care of yourself

I moved 3 times in 3 years pre fibro and havent moved since. Now I think it would kill me.

I know, pets are my family, I wouldn't ever be able to give one up. I hope you are able to settle in and finally get calmed down and de-flared. I also moved twice within 4 months, but mine was due to a roommate situation that didn't end up working out, so I left.

In some states a person is allowed to have an emotional support animal and a landlord can't turn you down. All it takes is a note from your doctor/counselor that you need the animal for emotional support. I was able to fly with one of my kitties free of charge this way as airlines also honor emotional support animals. This was before I received any disability so being able to do that meant so much. I could afford to have my best friend with me:)

I live in NH, I'm not sure what their policy is on emotional support animals, though. I would love to be able to have a dog for this purpose but I'm not sure my emotional issues (depression, anxiety, possibly some unresolved issues from my childhood/adolescence-some people I've talked about this with think it was emotional abuse, I'm not sure) are severe enough that I'd get a doctor's note for it. My boyfriend's mother has an actual emotional support dog for bipolar disorder, but she is on disability because of it. Things have calmed down a bit, I've been off for the past week because we were supposed to go on vacation but with the move we couldn't afford it, but we got a lot done with unpacking, decorating and preparing for the holidays. Now just dealing with the usual insomnia that seems to get worse the week before my cycle -_- Thank you everyone for your support!
