Good morning! Wow, I almost slept 7 hours. A pity not in a row, but hey, we get what we can and use it!

Things that shouldn't be true but are: Yes, you can make rope of bedsheets. Never do it like th emovies. Tear into threes, braid, and lock-knot the ends. No shoelace-type knots. And, yes, som eone once escaped from prison with that ... In 1983, Manhattan, NYC, NEw York, USA, and also in Joliet, Illinois of the same year. Apparently, great (criminal) minds thought alike. But it's occurred since... Tried and true, as long as they don't die or break a limb, of course.
Weirdly, there are a lot of prison escapes, but not as many as you'd expect. Most escapes involve bribery of poorly-=paid and/or corrupt prison guards/employees, and require help from the outside, apparently. Not the Shawshank Redemption by any means. (Alas?) That said, suicide and violence remain the biggest problems at prisons, rather than escapes.
New York state, btw, has only one unsolved prison escape. There are stills uspicions the inmate was possibly killed and then said to have escaped, but there's also reason to believe he got imself into an abandoned mine and met his end *there*. Either way, remains the only one unsolved in NY State. (Searches of the mine were called off due to danger to rescue personnel. Over twenty years later, nobody's ever gone in to get a body and confirm there was one...) This one intrigued me b/c the man was halfway thorugh a six-month esntence, a guard was allegedly harassing him (his report to family in a phone call), and then... Poof! In winter. In upstate New York. Mmm... curious.

Anyway, my husabnd is NOT dealing well with admitting to his hearing issue (loudness sensitivity or loudness discomfort). It's part of the aging of the auditory nerves. Loud noises or what he perceives to be loud are very jarring to him (unless it's the damn TV, he has the volume double what I require), and even white noise bugs him, so he's going to use the fancy earplugs he owns that he uses on trips. If they can block hotel-by-interstate-highway noise, they can damn well block anything, IMHO. They're molded and comfy, he admits, but he just ain't admitting to *age*. ...
And he knew about these issues months ago from his annual physical, just refused to admit them or tell *me*. Oh, gee, thanks. ARGH. I knew I shouldn't let him go alone... I mean, I figured, okay, that prostate exam, nobody wants company, but... That'll teach me...
Rant over.
Time to deal with the day. We had sudden hot humid weather move in here, and my sinuses are hating it. I know, right? Other people, it's winter. Me, I gotta be contrary and feel lousiest in *summer*!
Monday blessings to all:-)

What mundane things are you really good at? (By mundane we’re talking things you do regularly in your day to day life that aren’t going to win you awards or bring you notoriety but you just happen to be good at them… like loading the dishwasher or parallel parking, that sort of stuff)

Name something people used to dress up for that nobody dresses up for anymore.

I'm not doing well today, my depression is bad. My sisters race was yesterday and she ran about 14 minutes faster than me. I should be happy for her but really I just feel more inadequate. This is just another thing she's better at. I have already been feeling depressed and anxious and this has really made it worse. Last night I had the urge to get wasted (I didn't), and today I just want to shut down. I really wish I didn't have to work today and I could just avoid people. I also still feel nauseous and dizzy from the meds, which isn't severe but enough to be annoying.
Leo, I'm glad your hubby can use ear plugs. I really wish I could use them, I always think it's a matter of getting use to it, but I just can't stand them. Thanks on the detox stuff. I'm really just taking a few supplements here and there, but last night I couldn't take them because of cramps and pain in my lower stomach and side. It feels better this morning so I'll try again tonight. My doctor is good about saying slow and steady so I don't end up in agony. I already try to eat a clean diet, but I will not give up chocolate all together.
I pray everyone has a good day and that I have a house to come home to later.
Miki, a hundred hugs from "the loser sister" in my family. I know *exactly* how that feels. Paw bump.
Sorry to hear about your husband. Mine's being stubborn about his ankle, still. I might have to invoke a "you can't complain about it unless you're going to do something about it" rule. If he HAD tried things, and nothing worked, well, then welcome to my world and bitch away.
Miki, sorry to hear about your depression. Cymbalta? I had real trouble with that medication, but everyone's different.
Twins, hugs and prayers. I found pelvic floor stuff difficult and uncomfortable, but helpful. Hope the weather settles down.
Our office is moving this week. I have a LOT of anxiety related to the move, but on the bright side, the move is Friday, and I don't have to be here for it. The new building is really impressive, but it feels cold and impersonal to me. There's also a large atrium, and my sense of vertigo does not like that atrium.
I've been struggling with my depression. My period is coming and the PMS is already getting mean. It's so very hard. I just want it to stop. That's it. This doesn't mean that I want to die, or that I'm a danger to myself. I just want a break from the pain. I too thought about getting wasted, and chose not to. One step at a time. This too shall pass.
Wish you all a great day.
Miki I can see how you could feel that way about your sister's run. But if it helps I see you as the more able. You run with fibro and that is a miracle. You work so hard and deserve to feel like you did great.
Angela I am glad that you continue to take care of yourself calling out when needed. You have learned so much and grown.
Twins I am glad you are going to see the doctor about your pelvic problems. I ignored mine and ended up with it all tearing down and had a total hysterectomy at 34 and it took two surgeons on the table with me holding up the walls while another sewed me back together. Better your way lol. I am praying a spirit of protection around you and your family.
ZK moving is hard but I am at least thankful you won't have to be there while they do it. I hope the depression lets up soon.
We moved the living room around yesterday (ok she moved I dusted). I really like it this way. Today I am going to change sheets and do some cleaning in the bedroom. I have been fighting depression too but can't figure out why. My pain level in my shoulders and arms seems to be constant now.
Hi blue, fantod and all who follow.
Leo, hooray for sleep! I hope your hubby apologizes for being a jerk instead of just telling you he had sound issues. He better make it up to you. I went through many kinds of ear plugs before settling on a brand that my husband found. I have to use an extra small size (it may be for kids actually?) because I have really narrow canals.
Rant warning:
Yesterday was a very long day because the landlord had random showings throughout the day (as in he did not discuss before hand specific times with me) and I had to stay away all day. I was pretty pissed about it. He'll only talk to my husband who gives him permission for everything without talking to me 1st.
For example they're having another showing today and I only found out by accident because I happened to be sitting at the table with hubs when his phone (which was on the table) lit up with a text from the landlord so I grabbed it and read their conversation. My hubs gave him permission to show the place today and the landlord responded with an "OK." When I confronted hubby about why didn't he talk to me 1st, his answer: "You weren't going to be home anyway, so it doesn't matter." Are you kidding me?! People are going to be in my home and you don't think it's important to ask me if I'm OK with it?! It's bad enough the landlord breaks the law I don't need you conspiring with him. His response: "It's not breaking the law if I give him permission." You don't think your wife is supposed to be in on this conversation?! Hubs: "I didn't think it mattered if you weren't home anyway." I am beside myself.
Hershey and Spike go to the vet today to update their shots. My lower abdomen / pelvic area continues feeling painful. I know it's not IBS because my digestion has been good for the past week. At least I now know there is something else definitely causing pain other than "just IBS."
Back in a bit.
Zombie, glad you don't have to be there for the move. Sending rainbows and sunshine your way.
Autumn, yay for rearranging the living room. I love moving a room around, it's nice to do something different from time to time. Sorry to hear the pain is constant... that is not good.
I also managed to sneak in ordering a new computer while a certain party was out of the house. I crunched numbers and looked around for a solid week. Due to budget constraints I went with a Dell. They do build a good computer. Dell has a Memorial Day sale on now and I used Rakuten (used to be Ebates) to get over $100 back as a rebate. Windows 10 is something that I am not looking forward to but I decided that a Mac was just too far out of reach. And, my niece could not help with a Mac discount.
Meanwhile, my sister's car broke down in a big way last week. We've been on the hunt for a new engine for her Mercedes and a mechanic other than the dealer to do the job. Found an engine with 72K on it in WI with a 5 year or 50K miles warranty on it. They will ship for free to a shop. We asked a good friend who used to be the lead mechanic for Saab for 16 years if he will do the work and he will. His shop is 5 minutes from the house. The whole package with engine and labor will be $5,000. She can't afford a car payment right now with medical bills for my BIL, college tuition etc. Her car is in beautiful condition so this is probably worth doing even if she only drives it for another year. Waiting for her to come over to get the engine ordered; it will take about a week to get here.
Went to brunch yesterday which was nice except for my BIL ranting about the need to buy a new car rather than put an engine in the old one. He isn't thinking too clearly so we all sort of bit our lips. He always manages to make some sort of a scene at family functions which gets old.
Miki - You are a warrior to be able to run with Fibromyalgia never mind all of the other *perks* that you endure (IBS etc.). Comparing yourself to your sister is unreasonable in that she is (as far as I know) healthy. Take pride in your accomplishments as a runner, artist, homeowner, pet parent, working and all around good human being. I hearby award you a big fat gold star for all of that and managing to get out of bed in the morning in the first place.
Leo - My partner (aka Dorian Gray) is going deaf from too many loud concerts back in the day as well as working in kitchens with exhaust hoods etc. He usually has the TV on Defcon One which makes me absolutely nuts. This week is going to suck in the noise department around here. He insists that I and his Sous Chef mumble which is not the case. Her normal voice is loud so it is definitely him and not us. I like Helios ear plugs (Amazon) which are super soft. I use them fairly often. I am sorry that it took Mr. Leo so long to admit the problem. Dorian Gray will go to his grave denying that he is deaf, old, arthritic etc. ....
Twin - I hope that your appointment was helpful and maybe they figured out something that everyone else was missing. I have been worried about you and the intensity of the storms in that area. Thinking of you today!
AngelaJo - You've had some crazy weather in the UP the last couple of days. It is no wonder that you are in a lot of pain. It hasn't been great here either. My back is feeling like it is in a vice grip today. I hope that your PCP has an idea to help you out! Hugs!
Autumn - Rearranging stuff is always a nice thing. Freshens things up. I think that a lot of us are wrestling with depression right now. The weather sure isn't helping me. You are not alone! Any who - don't overdo it today. Sending support your way.
Zombie - Office buildings lack warmth. I don't care if they have waterfalls, atriums etc. It is still an office building designed for function and not warm fuzzies. Your Hubby should get his ankle looked at as the longer he doesn't the potential for more damage gets higher. I hope that you can hang tough with the PMS. I remember those days and don't miss them. Sending you some sunshine.
Blue - Not surprised that Mr. Blue is not taking you into consideration with regards to the landlord. He doesn't work that way and it is wrong on a lot of levels. I would certainly want to know if anyone that I didn't know and a jerk of a landlord was going to be in my home while I was out. Slaps Mr. Blue upside the head.... I hope the vet trip goes well today. Sorry that you continue to experience discomfort from your gyn exam. Hopefully, that can be sorted out quickly.
Time to investigate some lunch. Shout out to Bear, and Milily. I will try to check back later.
Fantod I am sorry you are having to deal with your sister's car again. I hope things get fixed quickly and you will be able to get some peace. It must be hard to be around BIL with him causing a ruckus. Dells are good computers are ok at least you will have one that works well. Hugs of support.
Angela I hope the meds they gave you will help calm the pain down quickly. I am praying for you.
