Hi, Dana....I'm so sorry you're having such a bad time of it! My pain got to the point where OTC meds didn't help me at all, and muscle relaxers never did anything for me but wipe me out the next day.

I take hydrocodone for my pain, and it does work pretty well. I realize everybody's pain level is different, but for me, it takes the edge off enough where I feel relief.

I'd ask my doctor about having something on hand for these times.

I take Lortab three times a day along with a muscle relaxer for my pain. I'm sorry that you're in such a severe flare and hope it clears up soon.

The muscle relaxers you are taking don't always work for me either. I have a script for Soma that I can take up to 4 times a day and flexeril just makes me a zombie for 24 hours. That's the point where I have to get some sort of narcotic pain relief or suffer endlessly. Nothing else really helps me.

It's a tough situation to be in and I know how hard it is to get pain medications. Unfortunately the human body can make you feel THAT terrible. I hope you feel better soon.

Sorry your feeling so bad. I take Vicodin and its helps alot. I hope you feel better.

I can take no pain meds, and no muscle relaxants either, so I knwo what you are going through! It sounds strange but sometimes a full-body flare eases up if I fast for two days (just water and dilute orange juice). I don't recommend it if you have other options, b/c it really is just a way of forcing the body to "reset". Not fun!

I just was started today on gabapentin and an anti inflamatory! Doc said she didn't expect the anti inflamation to really help with pain, but just to take the swelling down from my horrible RA flare up s I have had all this week!
SO hoping this gaba stuff works for me. they say it makes you REALLY sleepy, but I took mine for the first time at 6:30 and it is now 7:40pm and no sleepness, so that is a good sign for me!

Hope your pain goes away soon....I took so many advil today trying to get my hand to quit aching, still hurts!

Have you taken hydrocodone? If not maybe you should have your doctor change you to it for pain cos maybe the Soma is not helping. The only other way I have had releif from a flare up that bad was having the doctor give me a shot in the pressure point that would numb it.

Other than being achy, do you have specific type pains such as your back hurting, a foot hurting and the like? If it's just achiness, I wonder if you might have the flu or something. If you have specific pains, part of it could be myofascial pain where the muscles get knots in them that refer pain elsewhere.

I do not take prescription medicine, I do not repond well to it. I take apple cider vinegar baths in warm to hot water. I get phrimmer massages. It gets all the build up loosened and all the tightness knots out. With that, you have to take it easy for about 2 or three days and drink lots of water. Take a apple cider vinegar bath . You may feel like you have the flu the first time but drink lots of water and you should feel better. and more refreshed. Ginger is an good for natural pain relief . When I flare I usually am sore, but I get to tired to even do anything and Have to sleep. I do not take medicine well, sensitive to it. If you are under stress , can cause extra pain, I hope you feel better and pray you find a solution to help you.

just before I was diagnosed I went about 3 weeks hurting so bad I could hardly get off of the couch to go to the restroom. I became depressed very fast for multiple reasons because of this and felt very lost and alone. No one understood how I could feel so bad and it was as emotionally painful as it was physically.

Thank god I have had very few days that even come close to comparing to that since I started treatments and was diagnosed.

unfortunately the only help I found that truly works for me and gives me more good days than bad is not legal in most states and some people have trouble even considering as a possible treatment due to social stigma.. and believe me I felt the same way until I finally tried it. Being able to actually get on a treadmill, go for a walk with my family and even go bowling again was all of the proof that I needed that it was the best option for me!

My suggestion if you do not have a pain management specialist find one asap, if you have one then you need to call and discuss this with him. No one should have to live the way that some of us have or do, we have the right to be pain free and have some quality of life.

Thank you for the support and suggestions, everyone! it looks like a lot of people respond well to hydrocodone, but I don't remember it working too well for me. Maybe it's time to give it another try since the pain is acute. I'll also try the apple cider vinegar baths. I almost WISH this was the flu, so I could count on the pain passing!

Heat, hot baths, heating pads. Some get relief with epsom salt baths. I recommend taking something to get a very good night's sleep as that can be a big help.

I personally take Lyrica and Cymbalta and use hydrocodone for additional pain.

For that severity of pain nothing helps me but hydrocodone. I don't take it regularly - it's my "breakthrough pain" drug - but when I need it, it's the only thing that works.

I'm sorry to hear that you are in such pain. I am laying in bed right now, just aching, aching, aching , after working my usual full-full-full time job. I couldn't wait to get home so I could lay down. I am on no meds and the only thing I do use is something most wouldn't. I wish I could help you with some good alternatives. Gentle hugs to you.

I have a pain on my right side for 6 months now. Had all the organs on that side checked out and the docs say nothing is wrong. Meds don't touch the pain and it keeps me from being on my feet and working. I'm scared to think it isn't fibro related but what you said is soooo true. How can a body hurt this bad and not be in danger. I have a hard time feeling that this is fibro related. I search the net looking for answers but haven't found any. I have an idea of how you feel! It is easy to getr scared, especially when the pain is so bad. Hope you feel better.
