i agree if you can sleep and do yoga you will be a million miles ahead of the game!
Everyone has their own journey - some need meds to be able to function and be their best selves. Some can manage without. You need to make the choices that are right for you. As long as you know needing medication is not a personal failure, and you're making a goal to manage without it because that's what works best for you and your body, more power to you!
N't doing anything for me. I haven't been on pain medication in close to two years. The only meds I am on now are amitriptyline (30mg at night), and occasionally flexeril. My diet consists of a lot of green and leafy vegetables, fruits, fish (but not she'll fish), and chicken. My sugar intake is very low as well. I take 3000 to 4000 units of D3 a day. I don't need magnesium since my levels are high, but in the excellent range. I have my iron levels checked every three months since I have a small intestinal bleed (nothing major) that has made me anemic, but haven't had any of those issues in three years. I try to get some walking in since that helps. I also get light massage which has helped a lot, and would never be without my heating pad!
Here's to a successful outcome for you! We each have to find a tailor-made regime that works for us. Most of all, how to manage stress. Good luck and well wishes!
Now I'm trying to get my act together and lose it again. What I learned was that a paleo type diet is the best for me. Lean meats, lots of fruits and vegetables, and stay away from sugar. I just need to do it!
I also learned that it's all in your mind....choosing to make the healthy choices. It sounds to me that you are on the right track. You might google the paleo diet and see what you think. For me, it's mainly about getting rid of the sugar.
Keep us posted, ok? Maybe you can encourage me. Like I said, I've just got to get my head in the game.
Take care,
Elizabeth
My daily pain levels were 8-10 and I was practically bedridden and on FMLA. Today my daily pain levels are about 2-3 and I've gotten my fibromyalgia under pretty good control. I still have sleep issues, stiffness and periodic flare-ups but I've come along way. I am constantly added to my regimen and adjusting it as needed. I take various supplements, which include 10,000 ius of vitamin d daily (under my doctors supervision) do Aquatherapy, gentle yoga, pacing, massage therapy, heat therapy, follow a very strict diet which is gluten free, sugar free, soy free, etc. You can read more about my diet and fibro tips that I have compiled over the last 3 years at: www.kickfibro.com
Best Wishes!
I take classes through the adult schools and senior centers, so the cost is minimal. I prefer to do this because I just wont do the DVD's at home and having regular scheduled classes helps me to plan it into my daily schedule. Maybe you have some adult schools near you that you might be interested in looking for some classes.
Best of luck!
