I don't know how many of you have been catching glimpses of the news. However, from what I have seen (I try to limit myself from all of the madness) Michael Jackson's death has become a platform for attacking doctors who prescribe drugs for chronic pain / insomnia etc. Exactly the types of problems we with Fibro and Chronic Fatigue battle everyday. I do not condone nor agree with "Doctor Shopping", using multiple pharmacies and the lot to acquire scrips to feed an addiction. These types of activities make it only harder for those of us who legitimately seek relief and work directly with one doctor or team of doctors, therapist, etc. who all know what we are doing and the meds we are taking. It is my fear that all of this bad press will not only keep the "Good" doctors (who are already very difficult to find) from prescribing medication for Fibromyalgia patients, but will start a panic in the medical community that will further damage ongoing research to find a better solution or modality of treatment to help us live a better quality of life or maybe, just maybe, even a cure. Just my rambling thoughts..what do you all think? Take Care all of my DS Sisters and brothers. ShelaBug

what I "Think" is that No One should have to Suffer because a few have Abused...it was their Choice to Abuse these drugs...and yet the ones who need it are the ones who are going to suffer the Ultimate price, because as these FEW Stories get Slammed onto our Airways Dr.s are going to become terrified to prescribe these Meds...Drugs are Amazingly EASY to come by...and if One wants them bad enuff...they WILL Find a way to get them...ANY Dr. that is Over prescribing...for a few extra bucks should have his/her license revoked...not the medical community as a whole...Dr.s & Real patients are being targeted because a few people lost Control and Abused the meds...

I don't know what MJ story is...to me he is just a person, like any other person...all the monies in the world did Not save him from his fate...a fate that he himself CHOSE to Push...Hundreds of Thousands of People suffer Everyday, and take their Meds as prescribed...being Ever so Careful so they can keep on keepin on...tho I take no Pain meds, if I did I would not want my meds taken away because of a few idiots...Dr. and Abusers...Pushers & Seekers...the people that seriously Need these meds just to Function are unable to get them...the whole things is ridiculous...

Christ...cannot even Hear REAL NEWS Anymore !! turn it onto to Any of my favorite News channels and it is ALL about MJ...Pathetic...!!!

Pissed of, Fed Up...Disgusted...A Drug addict dies...at the hands of...DRUGS...more at 11...whatever...

Dakota...I could not agree more. I am sick of the sensationalism, every detail, the drama, whatever happened to meaningful journalism? Thank God we still have the right to push the off button on the remote!

I didn't think about that! I wonder if that's the rea son my doc. hasn't gotten back to me. I called wensday asking for something stronger for pain{ I was on naproxin, but it scared my husband because I had some of the side effects} Ibuprofen 600mg. wasn't working for me. This is friday and she hasn't gotten back to me. I called her twice on wednesday and called her once thursday. Then this morning I called at 6:30am thinking that i would get her answering service, but instead i got her! I think I woke her up! Told her that i was sorry for calling that i thought i would get her a. service then i proceeded to tell her that i was in extream pain {crying} and i called her office for something stronger and all she said was you called me at 6:30 in the morning to find out if I got your messages! Told her that i was in alot of pain {still crying} she kept repeating the same thing. You called........... I hung up on her!

I so totally agree, Shelabug and Dakotarose. My first thought after hearing over and over about MJ's drug addiction was, "Oh no, now the REAL pain sufferers are going to be penalized some more!" It's just so maddening. I'm so sick of the media blitz.

Fibonae, sounds to me like it's time for you to get a new doctor, ASAP ! Hope you got some pain meds from someone who cares!

Hi Ladies, Well, I knew I could not be the only one with that thought! I hope that once this media circus (and it is a circus) dies down, that Fibromyalgia / Chronic Pain and Chronic Fatigue will get the attention it truely deserves from the scientists / researchers / doctors all that it takes to find a safe way to help us in our struggle to live "Normal" lives. All we are asking is not to suffer so. I find myself thinking that I am lucky not to have cancer, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis. Our disease (and I will call it a disease rather than syndrome) is at least not fatal or causes internal organ and joint damage, although both you and I know that it feels like a wrecking ball has taken aim at our bodies! Where was I going with this? Hmmmm...Fibro Fog Attack! Anyway, Fibonae, you truly DO need to find another doctor. If your doctor did not want to be taking calls from patients at that hour...she needed to have her answering service in place or at the very least, leave a message on her phone that she will return your call. She left you hanging far too long. If she does not want to address your pain, then she needs to say so. On the other hand, you also need to be bold in asking your NEW doctor very specific questions. I did! and now I have a team of doctors working with me. It has not been an easy or inexpensive road either. At one point I thought I had found Fibro releif heaven...only to have every supplement known to man forced on me along with drip I.V's..the works! The problem was, after $$$$ I was getting worse, not better. Now, I still suffer...but I know that I am headed in the right direction. The doctors work for me...I am in charge of my body and if I don't get the results that they say they can provide, I let them know. Fair to them, they need to know if something is not working as they expected. But if they are not able to communicate with you either directly or through their assistant / nurse, etc. Then scratch them off your list. Move on. I couldn't agree more...read my latest update on my profile...it says: "These superstars sure do hurt us little guys who depend on meds and don't abuse it, yet have to pay the price for their abuse!!"

Thank you for saying it and yes, I've tried to stop watching it like I had to do when Anna Nicole did the same thing.

To Fiboane: YOU MUST FIND ANOTHER DOC ASAP!!! Your doc and the staff member you spoke with (or whoever it was) should be shot on sight!! How could any doctor treat a patient like this...and I don't think it has anything to do with the Michael Jackson thing...you aren't taking the heavy narcotics so he has nothing to worry about as far as that goes. PLEASE...FIND A DOC WHO BELIEVES IN PAIN AND FIBROMYALGIA AND SUCH!!!

Anyhow...we will ultimately suffer for this...big government will soon intervene and it will turn us "law abiding" citizens into real people who must find pain relief in "illegal ways" due to the limitations put out on GOOD DOCTORS AND GOOD PATIENTS!!

Sad, but true. We must join groups that lobby in our behalf...they are out there...use the internet to find and support the cause.
