Losing my job and health ins

just found out yesterday that my position in the company along with several others is being eliminated, so we will lose our health insurance. Now that's exactly what I need is more stress.

Do you all have any suggestions on what I can do to still be able to see my rheumy, get meds etc...

You will be able to keep your Health Ins. for I think 18 Months, at the rate paid for by the Company ( the Group Rate), Usually Much Reduced compared what YOU would pay on your own, I guess I do not know what Kind you carry.

Hopefully you will be able to step right into another Job.. I Know people here in ND are Screaming for help !!

Look into keeping your insurance at the company rate, and see if your state has any medicaid or other programs to help supplement? All I've got. Been there, done that, and will keep a good thought for yoU!

So sorry to hear you are facing this crisis. We went through the same thing last fall when my husband was let go from his job. Do check with your local, county & state agencies - there are still a few programs out there that can help. We weren't able to get medical assistance, but we did get food stamps, which helped ease the burden some.

Also, if you are taking any brand name meds (or their generic equivalents), check into the drug companies' patient assistance programs. I am currently getting 3 of my most expensive meds at no cost for 90 days at a time (you have to requalifiy each time). I think there is a central website for this - maybe PPA.com or something like that.
