I have Always "Suffered" thru Intermittant Muscle/Joint Aches/Fatigue...Feeling Like a Nasty Virus is gonna Overwhelm me...then All Symptoms would Simply Disappear...I Do Not Blame ANYONE for thinking I was either a Hypochondriac, or that what I was REALLY Suffering from was Depression..However...I Awoke from a very Invasive Surgery to Constant Muscle/Joint Aches...and Fatigue SO Severe, that It Literally Feels at Times as Tho I have been Drugged...Horrendous Aches in my Legs...which at First they Played Off as Returning Blood flow...opening up veins that had spasmed shut...well...it has Now been 4 & 1/2 Years Since that Surgery...
The 10 things that make My Life Tolerable IS...
#1. Pool Therapy..
#2. Massage Therapy..
#3. Having a Real Good Chiropractor..
#4. Taking a few supplements..
#5. Moving whether I want to or Not...Stretching myself several times everyday..
#6. Getting Rid of Excess Stressors...Including Toxic Relationships..
#7. Finding Forgivness for Those who have Seriously Wronged Me...letting the Nasty Negatives within my Life Go..
#8. Letting Go of Guilt because I Cannot Do the Things I want to do for Others..I Always TRY to Do What I can, for as Long as I can...Always TRYING to Stop before becoming Fatigued..{This trick does NOT always work}..
#9. I Allow myself to "Feel Sad" on Occasion...this is a Basic Human Feeling...One we Must Deal with...it is perfectly FINE to Cry, Rage Out...Take to your Bed...then get ur Happy Ass Back up, and get back into Life..
#10. Looking for All the "Natural Remedies" that Make Sense...No Miracle Cures...I Do Believe I {DID} have this "Fibromyalgia", and a Few other Symptoms under Control Just as well, if NOT better then Most, with No Meds/Side Effects...This came to a Temporary halt after a Toe Issue I just went thru...but am Rejoining all my Therapies this next week...was just Cleared to go back to my "Pool Therapy"...Which without that Therapy, the other Therapies I do only back off my Pain a little Bit...
I Hope and Pray you Find the Right Combination of Therapies to get you to the point where when you Go To Your Dr. you can give Him/her a Knowing Look...Perhaps Even Advise them on HOW To Help another Patient...
Do NOT Ever Allow a Dr. to Dismiss ANY New OR Worsening Symptom... Always Demand Full Exams, Tests...AND Respect !!
Hugs !! Bonnie
i've had the run around from more drs than i can remember, but right now i have good drs. i dont see a rheumy, but the original dx was done by one. i see a pain specialist (he is an anaesthetist as they usually are in this specialty). doesnt mean all he does is prescribe pain meds. he is an expert on all the fibro-modifying drugs, and he also supports people using non drug therapies. the most important advice he ever gave me (dakota will like this):
1. keep moving even though it hurts. get as much exercise as you can do without knocking yourself out for days
2. stay awake during the day no matter how tired you are, so you can sleep at night.
my PCP is fine for detecting simple illnesses like colds, and for ordering blood tests, and not much else, lol. my counsellor is excellent. i see i physical therapist when i need to for injuries, and i also see a gyno, GI dr, psych dr and a sleep dr.
good luck russ and i hope you find the forum helpful.
