Just gets to be too much

I have fibro, which brought on IBSC, acid reflux and Utis seem endless after my hysterectomy.  I do everything I am suppose to do and still get them.  I tried a hot bath a couple nights and of course UTI but it made my body feel better.  I went to a walk in clinic instead of my red dr where i would wait for hours. The dr gave me bactrim which usually works, I thought i was doing better since I have taken 7 pills but the symptoms popped back up today. I did the test strip and said moderate bacteria.


I dont know if I reinfected myself or what, maybe it takes longer then I realize for the bactrim to work. I cant find any info on the net about how long it takes for bactrim to kick in and clear it up.


Has anyone take bactrim and remember how long it took for UTI to disappear? Thanks.

I'm sorry you have a stubborn bladder infection. Maybe you need a different antibiotic? There is a connection between IBS and UTIs. Perhaps more aggressive management of IBS will help the bladder too? https://www.verywell.com/ibs-and-bladder-problems-1945194

I get a LOT of UTIs. I am allergic to bactrim so i normally go on cipro and it clears up. Baths are BAD for UTIs. There are many different antibiotics for UTIs and i just happen to be allergic to most. If you use the same antibiotic too often they will stop working.

UTIs can be better managed with a supplement called D-Mannose. You can find it at CVS as a drink mix, the Vitamin Shoppe and a host of other places. It prevents bacteria from sticking to the bladder wall. It is highly effective. Much better for you than continual rounds of antibiotics. Take care.

I have Ibs and Interstitial Cystitis. I also had a hysterectomy and had recurring nonstop yeast and bowel problems. There is a relationship between bowel and bladder problems. One can make the other worse. My belief is that it is inflammation run amok.
I would talk to your doctor or a specialist about it not clearing. Have you been tested for interstitial cystitis? When I had my hysterectomy, my urologist did a cytoscopy and found lesions. She did a procedure at same time and it gave me great relief.

My daughter was experiencing a lot of UTI's and we discovered it was from her constipation. She drinks Miralax every evening and no more UTI's since we started that. Good luck I feel so bad for you, they hurt so much.
