Fibromyalgia Support Group
You're not alone in your pain. Fibromyalgia is a condition that can be difficult to diagnose and manage. If you're trying to cope with pain throughout your body, sleep problems, general fatigue, or other common fibromyalgia symptoms, you're in the right place. The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.
It is quite an adventure to get the dx, no doubt! This is a great group, keep on coming out to get your questions answered or even if you just want to vent.
Welcome to the group!

Glad you finally got your dx! Like Kel said, that alone is a journey, so congratulations but also on that note sorry that you do have fibro. Welcome to the family!
I came here in 2008 initially looking for answers and perhaps poking around for that magic cure. But soon learned that doesn't really exist. You just have to tinker around through trial and error to find things that work for you. A daily routine? Maybe include some fun but non strenuous activities? But also some regular exercise even if it's 5 mins of just stretching or walking down the street and back. Whatever you find works for you. And then there's the meds. Oh that's a lot of fun.
The 2 most important things you want to focus on is sleep and pacing yourself. You need to make them your priorities.
For me I have developed a sleep routine, go to bed at the same time and get up at the same time. And if you stick around here you will learn that we all strive to have a good night's sleep, because if it's one thing we lack, it's sleep. And the worse you sleep, the more pain you have, and the more pain you have, the worse you sleep. And so forth. So if you aren't sleeping well, there are many things you can try and do to help you. Your environment, sleep aids, ear plugs, etc.
Pacing yourself. Anther common topic theme around here is how much we pay for if we over did it. Everyone is different. My pacing strategy may be different from someone else's, so you will have to figure out what works for you. But basically, you have to learn to listen to your body and figure out when it's trying to tell you, "I've had enough. Stop here and rest." Otherwise if you go beyond the little signals then it's a long journey back home if you know what I mean.
For me, I try to pace it to where I schedule a day off just for rest or bumming around the house between my days of activity. Even if I don't feel like I need it yet. That way, I'm trying to prevent "paying for it" later. Except lately with my full plate and getting ready to move. I've failed at pacing LOL.
Well I hope this has helped you in some way... take what you want from it or leave the rest... good luck and hope to see you around :)
We read "Fibro for dummies" here, it's a good source of info, suggestions, advice, and a great tool for smacking irritating nay-sayers upside the head (OK, I only imagine that part....)
Vent, ask, whatever!
