Hi everybody!

So, my fibro symptoms started 2-3 years ago and I've always had the "chronic widespread pain." I've never felt like it was specifically in my joints, but for the past month the knuckles and joints in my both of my hands have been so painful! Did this type of pain start suddenly for anyone else? Should I be concerned that it's something else (like RA which they tested me for years ago)?

If this is a new thing an xray of your hands should be done. I have had a few xrays over the years of my hands and they were normal. So all the pain and misery in my hands is from fibro. My fibro started in my hands and wrists. Symptoms shouldnt be brushed off as fibro until you can prove it is not something else - esp. new symptoms.
My hands feel like they are 108 yrs old , and feel crippled like and tight and the joints hurt.

I'd talk to my rheumy or primary. I think input and documentation is good...keeping track helps because fms is crazy unpredictable, it can be difficult to hold everything in one's head...at least for me.

Idk what could be causing your symptoms. I have had carpal tunnel flares, and the symptoms didn't feel as localized as I thought it they would. Not saying that's what you've got...but my carpal tunnel always remits with pt. So maybe your symptoms will remit, too. Chin up xo

I agree that you should talk to your doctor, especially if it is something new. My pain in my hands is unbearable some days, which is why I'm no longer working. Can't be a nurse without your hands.

My fibro diagnosis came in and I didn't really quite believe it. As an engineer, I felt there had to be something mechanically wrong with me for the pain to be like it is. I did have disk problems in the L5-S1 region, which made sense, but my neck and shoulders etc, just seemed not quite so simple. Meloxicam, an NSAID, made sometimes a significant difference in pain levels. I pushed for an MRI with my ortho. Turns out I have severe arthritis, disk disease from c1-c7 and moderate to severe spinal stenosis from c3-c7, including bone spur growths inside the spinal canal.

Long and short of it, always check. Don't assume fibro.
