Fibromyalgia Support Group
You're not alone in your pain. Fibromyalgia is a condition that can be difficult to diagnose and manage. If you're trying to cope with pain throughout your body, sleep problems, general fatigue, or other common fibromyalgia symptoms, you're in the right place. The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.
What you're describing with pain in cheeks sounds like TMJ, which is pain caused by tightening, clenching, or grinding your teeth at night. This is common with fibro.
If it continues, I'd recommend seeing your dentist about a mouth guard you can wear at night to prevent the clenching from happening. I even think I remember someone writing about getting one (maybe over the counter?) that was much cheaper.
Anyway, I'd check into that. I used to be bothered with TMJ when I was teaching and under a lot of stress. When I got on depression/anxiety antidepressant, it went away.
I hope you find the answer and get some relief. I'm sure others will be along to welcome you and offer advice. This is a great group! We're glad you joined us.
Take care...ELizabeth
I'd agree with lizzy, and suspect TMJ....I have that as well, and my cheeks, jaw, temple all will hurt like crazy....even leading to headaches. I can stretch my mouth open a bit, and massage the muscle around my jaw, and feel how tight they are.
Great that you're seeing your dentist. I got a mouth guard from mine, fit to my teeth....and lizzy is right, you can get them in the drug store, made of soft plastic. You heat them up until pliable, then fit it to your teeth.
Check with the dentist about which would be better for you.
Nice to meet ya, and make yourself at home!! HUGS from down south :)
