I read a thread about a sexual side effect of cymbalta (inability of orgasm),so I know it's a common problem. My question is this : does this side effect go away as your body gets used to the dosage you are on? Or does it stay as long as you continue to take that dosage? Is it something you can wait out and it will improve, or do you have to lower/discontinue cymbalta (or accept the side effect).

Might be a better question on a forum with more people on cymbalta, but we have a few here. I can't say. I was on it 3 days and had the classic "weird thoughts" thing and that was that for me.

BUT.... I did have concerns about a couple of meds I am on and it'd probably be best to ask the prescribing doc and pharmacist. (They'll probalby have different opinions, LOL.) I know my meds didn't affect me, but when I was being tapered on? Every jump up in dosage? I had a week where I had zip zero nada nil no sex drive.... then I adjusted and bingo, back it was. I am on an antidepressant/mood drug so... that's my experience.

To be honest, pain is a bigger "mood killer" and "stopper" for me. Just me. But I wanted to reply.

For me personally Unfortunately it continued on for me while I was on it. Same goes for the other Ssri's I have been on.
And once I stop taking it took a week or two or so for things to work again. ;)

when I quit taking it for a few days it goes away. course, I get pelvic floor spasms after.

I don't know anyone for whom it went away. I only took it for six days and I was already numb.

I took Zoloft for 5 years and it pretty much killed my orgasms. I went off it and within two weeks they were back. Unfortunately, now the anxiety is back as well.

I have been wondering the same. I have an added problem too so not sure which one is causing it. I had a total hysterectomy a little over seven months ago. I started HRT two weeks post op and Cymbalta 60mg. about three months post op. The Cymbalta helps me manage the pain well but I do have this one side effect. Again, not sure if it is exactly from the Cymbalta. I have always heard though that anti depressants cause low libido and non ability to orgasm. I was thinking about talking to my doctor about trying Savella since my moods have normalized and I may not need the anti depressant part of the medication. Perhaps you could do the same. I have not found that this goes away yet but I have only been on it for a little over four months.

Perhaps others can chime in with more experience. I keep reading that Lyrica causes weight gain so I do not want to try this. What about Savella?
