Some doctors will really push stuff on you that you don't need but some things are worth trying at least once.
For instance, trigger point injections benefit many, but I found them too painful with no long term benefit. Same with acupuncture, expensive and left me shaky and didn't help my pain at all.
I saw a sports doctor that insisted that I do this weird typing therapy (he wrote a book about it and posture), I declined. I think he was just trying to make a buck.
In desperation, and when I had really good insurance I tried a spinal injection. The steroid in that left me awake for 5 days straight.
I had a pais specialist try to push behavior therapy on me.
Honestly, I racked up so many medical bills that I was essentially bankrupt in about 5 yrs. And none of it really helped.
Each person has to go on their own journey and go with your gut feeling.
