I'm sending you hugs and an understanding and compassionate ear... I hear you. It surely is hard to understand how this happens to so many of us. They say that about 7% (I think that's what I just read... ) of people, mainly women, suffer from Fibromyalgia? But when all of us are gathered here, it seems that it must be many, many, more. Although, I also find it hard to believe that so many people lead "normal" lives, without fibro. I see them everywhere. They are shopping and partying, and laughing and participating in sports and exercise. And all I can do is watch with amazement that they can actually DO so much, when I can do so little. And it is so true that the weather makes it that much worse.

I am so sorry for you, and for all of us.

I know how you feel, sometimes you just have to hang in there and hope for the best. Are you on any pain meds? If you are ask for a higher dose or see if they will let you take a extra pill on the really bad days.

Just got back from the doctor, (my PCP is leaving in February so I saw another doc in the practice today), he would only give me 6-5mg endocet to help me through what he stated is weather related I told him I needed to go to a pain clinic that I was at my whit's end and that today weather was not helping but my pain was horrible before it started to rain and he said he wasn't comfortable with doing that, that I needed to make an appt and talk with my PCP about that. To try the endocet over the next week and see if it helps any...and the whole time I'm thinking 6 are you stupid it's obvious you don't suffer with any type of pain....I'm hurting so bad I don't believe if I took all 6 at the same time it would help.

He also had the nerve to ask me if a doctor had diagnosed me with fibro or had I just read up on it and decided I had it...I told him to read the notes from my rheumy and he said oh yeah here it is.

I'm so aggravated, I have no idea what to do!

I'm going to call my rheumy tomorrow and demand to be referred to a pain clinic.

So sorry, Rhonda. I think that's a good idea for you to call your rheumy. I've discovered we have to be downright assertive with our care. We're just one more patient to our doctors, so it's up to us to ask for what we need.

I hate this kind of crap! Most doctors do not understand fibromyalgia! I'm very sorry this is how it worked for you today. If you can't tolerate the pain, you might have to go to the emergency room. I know that most days I could not get by if I didn't have some good strong narcotic pain relievers. That's just the way it is for me.

Yes Fibrogram that is the way it is for all of us. I too am so sorry this doctor said this to you. When we hurt the most is NOT when we need to hear this from Jerks Like That! I have moved to the HOT desert so that my pain isn't so constant but every time a cloud floats by I feel it. I read where it is the barometric pressure that goes up and down fast that makes us hurt most. Hang in there sweetie and gentle hugs.

Rhonda - 6 pills - is he stupid or just ignorant?? Probably thinks everyone who has fibro Sx is just drug seeking, at least that's how I see it. Sorry you are in so much pain and, yes, a pain management doctor is the right move, unless your rheumy will prescribe some meds that will help you. Good luck and hang in there!

My rheumy won't prescribe anything stronger than Ultraset. And when we found out I was getting vicodin, he stopped prescribing Ultracet totally. I wasn't taking them togher. And the ultracet doesn't work anyway but I was hoping if I got the pain under control that maybe I could go back to the ultracet. ohwell. Good luck to you.

A dr I saw when my usual dr was on holidays wrote in my notes "rheumatologist believes Kim has fibromyalgia". Am I just being overly sensitive? You wouldn't say "so no so believes Kim has an ear infection". It's annoying.

I must admit I am beginning to doubt I have fibro. It's so confusing! I don't feel any better or worse with weather patterns. Am having a sinus operation tomorrow to remove a hopefully benign polyp. It's just one more thing on top of all the pain, fatigue, brain fog, weakness and muscle tightness and twitching. Sigh.

And I have Coeliac disease and I was asked to bring some food to the hospital for my meal after the operation because they didn't have much to offer that's gluten free. It's just one more thing that makes me feel down.

I don't feel a need for pain meds at the moment luckily but I really wishthat you guys who do need it, were able to get suitable meds without so much angst. It makes u feel like a drug addict. Its not right.

I'm sorry that you are going through all of this right now. I will say a prayer for you and hopefully your rheumy will refer you to a pain management doc.
