This is not normal make a drs appointment ASAP.This is not normal with this medication.

My friends are telling me I didn't give it enough time. I'm being told I need to toughi t thru the side effects,that they'll go away...I've been on psych meds before and I've felt that uncomfortable feeling. But this time was different,much worse. It made me feel disoriented,anxious,aggitated,my head was spinning,I was confused,over active muscles-I couldn't stop moving my legs and I was jumpy. Every time my husband moved in bed I would jerk-like one of those falling dreams. I realize with some meds you'll feel nausea,sweaty & sleepy and I felt this but along with all these other terrible symptoms. So I didn't feel it was right. And I read that if you 'just don't feel right', you shouldn't proceed w/ the meds. My husband held me the second night when I couldn't stop crying...My symptoms lasted strongly until 11am the next day and I didn't feel totally okay until 2pm.

I feel so overwhelmed,defeated and I'm worried there won't be anything to help my pain. The Mobic and Ultram work some-but I feel like any seretonin psych type drug is not going to work for me. I don't even want to try them anymore as it is! I am going for deep tissue massages and they seem to help. Im hoping they will do a great deal of pain relief since I don't seem to react well to the meds. I have a feeling my Dr is going to want to try Sevella next-but I Feel like that's just more of the same stuff I can't tolerate. I do take 100mg of Lyrica and have tried and tried to get to 150mg since this is supposed to be a 'theraputic dose' but I can't seem to get there either. I work and I wouldn't be able to wake up the next morning even tho I take my meds at 8pm every night.

Last night my legs and arms were hurting me so bad I wondered if just taking the two days of Cymbalta made me worse:( I have discontinued taking it since Mon. and now I'm having a lot of anxiety that my Dr might be angry that nothing seems to be helping. I get the feeling,even tho I like my Dr,that they think I'm just making myself believe I can't tolerate the meds...

Listen, lovingautumn.....if it were me, I WOULD NOT continue a medicine that made me feel that way. I tried cymbalta and savella both and couldn't take either one because they made me too nervous. Savella is in the same family as cymbalta, so if you have problems with one, you might have trouble with the other. It could be the norepinephrine in the cymbalta that's bothering you.

People with fibro are generally more sensitive to meds than other people are. I know that there's a period of adjustment and "wait and see" with a new medicine, but with side effects like you're having....that's too much in my book! I don't put myself through something like that.

I'd call my doctor and tell him what happened and tell him you want to try something else. I hope your doctor is one that you feel comfortable working with....if not, find one who will. Doctors are working for us.....don't be afraid to tell him what happened to you.

Have you tried any of the SSRI antidepressants? They're the only ones I can tolerate. I'm taking prozac, and it really helps my mood, sleep, and pain to a certain degree. Then I take lortab for pain.

I really hope you get this worked out, but again...I think those side effects are extreme.

THANK YOUfor your reply! It makes me feel better about making my decison. You are right,it's prob the norepinephrine! I have taken other SSRI's like Prozac in the past and I had stomach cramps and was a little fuzzy for awhile...but I got thru it and stayed on it back then for a yr. To begin with,I was dead set on NOT taking any of these psych meds after all I'd gone thru yrs ago...but after talking to my Dr and feeling hopeless with all this pain-I figured I'd give it another shot. I always second guess myself and then people talk me out of what I really feel...guess it's my foggy head lately...I so appreciate you responding and helping me! Some days I feel so down I can't imagine getting out of the funk,but today I'm feeling pretty happy. I'm going to keep working towards better days...Hope your day is wonderful:)

You are so welcome! I'm the same way about trying new medicines. I've tried just about every antidepressant in the book, and I know how hard it is to get up the nerve to get off one, then switch to another.

I think if your friends were experiencing what you went through, they'd be singing a different tune.

Cymbalta was like poison in my body. i had severe headaches, nausea and didn't feel like doing anything. also made my face feel like my skin was stretching. very weird sensation. i thought i was going nuts. i started at 20mg and then upped it to 30mg. the first night i was on it i blacked out and fell and almost broke my tooth and nose. i can't seem to handle any anti-depressants or most medications that increase my serotonin. i think i get Serotonin Toxicity quite easily.

Goodness Kat! Well,it's a shame people like us can't tolerate drugs that might help us if it weren't for the side effects:( My mother was exactly the same. I'm finding more and more as I go along in life and seeing different Drs that more than anything-I am going to have to just accept these illnesses and do the best I can w/o these debilitating meds,go the diet rout,do massage therapy and PRAY. Sometimes it just gets so hard tho...I'm just glad that there are still some meds that will at least take the edge off.
