one of these days!! My mother particularly! You know how some people throw a joke or something and think they have to hit you on the arm or back? My mother will poke me real hard or smack me on the arm.
One of these days........I'm afraid my reflexes are going to be faster than my brain! I almost smacked her back today. I was already in a lot of pain and she smacked me on the arm. I hollered "OUCH"....she said, "O I'm sorry". I told her that her 'sorry' days were getting OLD.

Yep I almost smacked my step daughter for same thing. And that will land ya in jail if the wrong person saw that. She knows I hurt badly and still doesnt heed the warnings. Maybe a swat in the arm will get her attention.

Its nice when people seem to just forget you are in pain all the time, makes you wonder if they even care enough to remember.

My Mom is guilty of that! She'll smack me on the back or arm.

Now her thing is to hug me and I always think my spine is gonna break. I've told her over and over, or I'll say,"Do you remember I had 3 back surgeries??"

She still does it....I get so tempted to smack her back or hug her hard,but she's 83,so I'm scared if I did I would break something,but she knows I'm upset.

When I was still able to work, I do believe I had a sign on my back that said "Slap Me Here' as I was always getting hit.

its sad that my kids will playfully hit me and i say "dont hit me hard right there,dont do it at all,mommy hurts there"...i dont know when they will learn not to but im really trying not to tell them to stop...its out of love,at least i need to grin and bare it with them...
i have lately had

the goal to not keep telling them "im hurting,i cant do that"im trying to redirect and say"not now but we can...ect...."
i hate this illness

don't know how productive it is but sometimes it's a little fun to get right in someone's ear and scream THANKS.THAT FELT JUST GREAT.

I understand this all too well and empathize with you! People just don't understand the pain that we all go through on a daily basis.
Just trying to get into a position where my feet and arms are comfortable is such a challenge and if anyone dares to poke or prod me, it makes it ten times worse. So sorry that you are having difficulty making her understand that this friggin hurts!! Hugs, Kimmee

My 14 year old son, believe it or not, gets it when he knows I am hurting. He can accidently bump into me, or step on my foot. and instantly, he says,"Om my gosh Mom did I hurt you?" He gets really upset to think that he may have hurt me. Of course, I always tell him no, that it did not hurt. I raised all 3 of my boys to be huggers.It's sad. because used to, we could hug when we saw each other, and then hug when we got ready to leave each other. And now, they always ask me if they can give me a hug. I NEVER turn them down. My husband, on the other hand, is a gentle hugger, but if we are sitting next to each other, we like to touch. He may rub my leg, to show affection, but when i tell him that my leg is sore and that him rubbing it hurts, I expect him to stop rubbing. Instaed he keeps on rubbing, thinking he can rub the soreness out, or something. I don't know what he is thinking. So, then I have to be stern and say,"I SAID that hurts, why are you still rubbing my leg?" Then he gets his feelings hurt, and I find myself apologizing to him for hurting. So, YES, one of these days I am going to slug him so hard in the leg, and then start rubbing it, and see how he feels to be in pain. But, I still love him, dearly, with all my heart. So, I don't think I could ever physically hurt him on purpose.

ROTFL, my DH did that once during a FM flare, gave a "swat" on my butt as emphasis for how "sexy" I was. I whacked him in the testicles. He now warns other people, "She's achy today, don't touch her!"

Well, I know my mom is sincerely regretful after she does it, but darn!, when is she going to remember NOT to do it!

I just experienced a similar situation with my son today. He is only 9 1/2 so I understand that it is easy for him to forget my pain issues, but man does that kid have an arm on him. OUCH!! I can't complain though. When he does remeber my limitations, he is such an enormous help! I'm super lucky to have him.

I have to keep counting to 10+ several times a day. I teach kindergarten and especially now at the begining of the year so many of them poke or tap or think they are lightly patting you to get my attention.
