Fibromyalgia Support Group
You're not alone in your pain. Fibromyalgia is a condition that can be difficult to diagnose and manage. If you're trying to cope with pain throughout your body, sleep problems, general fatigue, or other common fibromyalgia symptoms, you're in the right place. The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.
I had a specialist laugh at me back then when I told him I was going to an allergist since there was some type of interaction between what I ate and how I felt. He is the one that had just compared me to a healthy horse.
In his mind, in the little box of his training, if it didn't fit, it was in the patients head and therefore funny. There was no world outside his little box. Do you detect any sarcasm? Ha!
The allergist didn't help a lot but it began a process in which I have learned through the years how to avoid certain foods. I don't even know if there is a relationship for you and food, but the only thing I know for sure is that you can't give up, go with your gut feeling if the Dr seems off base and has no tests to prove his theory, and come to this site.
There is more wisdom on fibro on this site than in all of the professional medical establishment combined in my opinion.
Good luck.
So, according to his learned medical opinion, you can't possibly be in legitimate pain because Fibromyalgia is such a controversial disease and because you were diagnosed at 16, you must be making it up in your mind. (Psychosomatic perhaps?)
You would have to be one sick puppy to have imagined over SEVEN YEARS of this kind of pain. It takes dedication and concentration to be able to do that. Most people would loose interest after a month of so.
If you paid this guy, you should ask for a refund. He's practicing medicine without a brain.
Check into state programs to see if you qualify for some type of health care.
Read the post here and research there are alot that use supplements and alternative treatments.
I use a combination.
Sending Hugs and Prayers that you find something that works for you.

Good luck to you,I'll keep you in my prayers,I know what its like to have no insurance its awful, you can't get good treatment. Hang in There :)
You are NOT crazy and you stay strong and believe in yourself. Hard to do, i realize! Do you have any programs that offer help with person's w/out insurance in your area? Look into this first and foremost and then look into a Rhuemotologist.
I think the "something" they were saying you had was called A Hypocondriac.....when you think you have something and it is all in your head!!!! I never understand why a Dr thinks a person wants or wishes to be ILL or have PAIN??? Before thinking this...they need to do a little more exploring and testing b/4 just dismissing this as a "ALL in your HEAD" disease!
Keep the faith and keep searching and researching and do not give up. Be your own advocate! Remember....WE CARE! God bless! Love~Tory

I hope this can help you out.
I am also in my 20's with chronic pain/Fibro. It BITES. We have an added problem being young and sick because idiots always assume that if you are young, you cannot POSSIBLY be ill. Right. I have such pain that can knock out Hulk Hogan. He would be crying for his mommy in the fetal position. Your pain is real. Do not EVER let anyone tell you otherwise. And you DESERVE proper care. I have been there too.. tons of docs, tons of money and no help. Only in recent years have I been getting some answers. Best advice that I would give you from my personal experience is:
Go to a Pain Management Clinic if at all possible. They specialize in PAIN which *shocker* varies by individual. Regular doctors do not get this.
See a naturopath. They treat the WHOLE body. Some of them are willing to accept payments if you don't have insurance. Mine will do tests that I have NEVER HEARD OF from my primary doc such as Neurotransmitter Test. Also a Food Allergy Panel might be good for you.
Massage Therapy and Chiropractic Care will also give you some answers and help. I also find with my massage therapist that she can FEEL the horrific painful knots in my body so she KNOWS its real.
We are here for you!!
