I guess all you can do is say, I'm sorry you don't understand- and then do what you need to do to take care of yourself. It's amazing how people make you feel guilty for doing what's best for you- like we're all just lazy or something- ugh!!!
I take 2 pills right now- and more if I'm having a bad day, but nothing really seems to help but rest.
I'm about to take a medical leave after next week and I'm not positive my insurance is going to pay in a timely fashion which is scary- but I know I have to do it and try not to feel guilty.
When I had my hysterectomy a couple of years ago someone told my husband something about the recovery being a couple of weeks and their wife or whoever was back to work in no time- so my husband was a complete ass when I didn't recover as quickly as he'd hoped- I had abdominal surgery and this "other" person had it vaginally or something- but he didn't trust or believe that what I said was true- and I felt so so alone. I was miserable because he wasn't supportive. I finally let him have it- and explained exactly how I wanted him to treat me and how he needed to be more empathetic. He still didn't get it. I had another surgery soon after and it was a little better- but it wasn't until we had marriage counseling that he really got it and apologized to me for being so insensitive and for not being there when I needed him. Now, he still says stupid things and he's not good at cleaning house or cooking- but he's trying, and he's been more understanding and doesn't give me a hard time. Sometimes guys just don't know what to do and you have to spell it out.As for the rest- I know you read my post- and everyone had good suggestions about how to deal with other people.
I've had this conversation with my husband: I need you to listen for a minute without interrupting. I know you're having hard time accepting what's happening to me, and it's hard for me too. I want you to think about how you would feel and what you would do if you always felt.....fill in your symptoms....I don't want to be sick, I don't want to be laid up in bed- I want to be running around healthy with energy more than anything- but the hardest part is feeling very alone- and I need you as my husband to be my closest friend and to try to listen to me and care for me with love and compassion in your heart. .... or you could just write a letter so you could say it exactly the way you want-
I'm sorry I'm going on and on- I've just had many discussions about this with the husband in the last couple of years!!!!
Anyway,I do understand how you feel and I hope you can take comfort in knowing you're not alone!
How many of you are so bad that you are basically bedridden. Again, I was basically bedridden during the disability time.
How may of you take More than 3 pills a day. I take more than 3 pills a day...I take 6.
How many of you have a husband that does not get it even when they say they do...I have a wonderful husband fortunately who gets it.
I live with muscle spasms, stabbing pain and sore joints often. I work out in a swimming pool and can still end up in agony the next day. When I bump my arm, it hurts for 3-4 days, compared to fibro free folks who don't even notice they bumped their arm!
My MIL lives in NY, I'm in TX so we get along fine. Your MIL doesn't get a vote! Take care of you and be patient with your husband. They tend to be slow. Mine was too. He's very supportive now but he's a work in progress. Take care of you
If your MIL continues to be a pain in the rear, send her out here to TX. We know what to do with meddlin' in-laws.
I'm basicly housebound I can still get out alittle but not much.
I take more than 3 pills aday but I have alot of other health problems too.
I'm not married, my boyfriend at the time dumped me the day I found out I had breast cancer.
If your MIL and Husband are just harassing you I would tell them to get lost.
If they are doing it because they are concerned about you I might try and talk things over with them.
I hope you are able to sit up on and off and get up and move around. They maybe worried about blood clots and lung problems that could happen if your bedridden.
Sending Hugs and Prayers that you feel better soon and things work themselves out with your husband and MIL.

I think my fm is finnally to a point I cant really work. My breathing will be the down fall of me working forsure...
I spend an emense amount of time in bed. I cant do a lot of house work and when I do I need a week to recover.....
Getting up and moving some is important. If we just lay down and let it dop its thing we loose what little strengh we may have but we also need to not push it to much and it may mean just taking a shower or sitting on the couch instead of being in bed... but if your sick your sick tell them to bite them selves and take care of your self. YOU know your body and you know what you can handle... dont do more then that
Do they WANT to TRY to Understand ? Do they Know what the Word "Respect" Means ??
If NOT, then while you are are out Filing for Disability, File one other document as well...get rid of the Husband & the Mother will Follow...2 Birds with One stone so to speak...Ahem.
If ya don't wanna Boot them permanently OUT of Your Life, then take a Temporary Approach...Sit em down, tell them Neither one is going to Speak until YOU have had Your say..
Explain to them that Stress is a Kicker for this Dis-Ease..that the Stress they are putting you Under in making you Worse, That IF they IN Fact DO Love you...then they Need to Learn about what it is they Speak, that they Need to Treat you with 100 Percent Respect, and that UNTIL they are Willing to do so, they can just take care of their Damn Selves...they can Come back Into your Life when they have learned a little something. then END the Conversation by simply getting up and walking away..
No One should be Treated this way...NO ONE. but it is up to each one of us to back off the @$!( $%(!)& when they start TRYING to Tell You how you Feel & what is going to get you better..
Next time you are in the Dakotas give me a Call !! I got ur back !!
I Hope you are Feeling Better SOON !

I was just awarded my social security after 2 years of waiting. There are many days I cant leave the couch as I hurt to bad to move. I also have endometriosis, arthritis, and some other health issues as well to deal with on top of the fibro
One of the problems with my mother in law is we live with her. Seemed great at the time we would pay the mortgage and she wouldn't have to sell her house that she has lived in for the last 15 years. They consider me drugged up all the time. I take ExStrenth Vicodin
Synthroid
Prozac
Gabapentin
Soma
But I am not taking anything new since last spring when I was going to fitness prayer groups and was really active. All this started when I had a hysterectomy in May I think got over that fine was a little worse and then in June and July I had to have 2 knee surgeries It's put me on bed pretty much as much as I can. I work with the youth of our church and just went on a retreat with them. It was great. During the free time I would take a nap and then I was good to go for a while longer. When I got home I have a meltdown. Was exhausted for three days and then the day before Thanksgiving I got the flu. They thought I had the swine flu but I didn't just close. lol Having a heck of a time getting rid of it. It's been 7 days and I still feel like poo. Well It's time to figure out dinner so I can lay down again. I'ma asking flor prayers well wishes whatever you believe. I just called the walk in clinic and they said to come in but hubby said it's only been a week. Nice guy huh.
Thank you for all your replies.
