What helps the effect is if the news is on or nothing at all, just laff hysterically and point for no apparent reason. Then when they say "WHAT?" Laff harder start jabbing as you point screaming, "DON'T YOU SEE IT?" ROFLOL ROFLOL Then let the "normals" go insane trying to find what on Earth we are losing it over.
Last thing you must do is swear like this "I have never in all my life saw something so bizzare. Thank God it didn't bite any of us."
This will cause another effect that you can use at bed time when you start pounding at the sheets going "did I get it?" ROFLOL ROFLOL

And CRINCH --- I know the Purple People Eater. Check your local video store as it is ACTUALLY A MOVIE and let the 17 yr old catch you watching it, act all engrossed and if she says one little sound scream with a wild eye look and say "OH GREAT! YOU JUST WANT TO RUIN THE PLOT FOR ME!" and storm off or crank volume whichever is appropriate as you continue to eat popcorn FURIOUSLY. ROFLOL
