I've been seeing my PCP for about 8 years now. I was diagnosed with fibro almost 10 years ago and at first, he sent me to a rheumatologist, who coincidentally had fibro too! After the first visit, I felt like someone finally understood. But, due to her illness, she left the practice and it was back to my PCP. He seemed like he was very willing to help and did for awhile now. I'm currently taking tramadol, neurontin, cymbalta and zoloft and for about 7 years now, it has at least let me get through the day. My PCP has not changed or increase anything with my medication EVER! And recently, I seem to have more bad days than good again. I tell my Dr. this but, he basically, blows me off and writes long-term medication usage in my chart. I'm at a loss as to what I should do. I don't want Dr.'s to treat me like a junkie but, I'm also finding it difficult to get through the day. I'm only 33 years old and do not want this to be the extent of my quality of life. I understand my PCP is looking out for my best interest and trying his best and doesn't really understand but, why should I be suffering for his ignorance? I know the risks of dependency but, what is pain medication for, if not to help with pain? We, above all, know pain! And, I'm willing to risk dependency if it gives me even 20 more years of LIFE! Is it better to not take pain pills and other drugs just to say I'm not dependent but, to live a life that isn't LIVING!!!! Not, to me! I guess I would like some opinions and advise on how you guys feel or cope. And, also advise on whether I should just stay with my DR. because this is as good as it gets, or look for someone new? And, if there are any recommendations on who I should see. Thanks for any help or advise you can offer!!!

My cat is going on trial for crimes against skink-anity. SIX in six weeks. Three this last week alone. The crack is maybe 1/4 inche wide. Maybe. Skink skitters past, her paw shoots out, her claw hooks in, she yanks, and somehow, having defied physics... WHAM. Skink-o-rama.Now, don't get me wrong, it's nice that she's a pesticidal maniac, but OMG. Skinks do no harm. They don't come inside. WTF.So,...

I'm alive, I'm sleeping like a rock, and for some reason I wanted cherry juice so that seems to be helping. (??? Weirdo that I am.)***Infamous therapies over history:1. The Attic. The madwoman in the attic is a motif in literature going waaaaaay back: the nutty female relative is locked in the attic. (See: Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte for a grotesquely racist version of it, and Charlotte Perkins...

Have you had a sleep study done? Might be worth doing to see if sleep disruptions are part of your current issues. And, at the very least your doctor should run a full blood panel to make sure nothing else is going on.
And finally, in the past year or so there has been a huge push by the government to limit the use of opioids. Even long time users with a legitimate medical need are basically being persecuted because of these laws. So, if this is something that you are considering, your options may be very limited.
Good luck to you and take care.
