Just sweeping the floors causes me to flare and have to lay down for awhile. I just can't clean the bathrooms anymore because it takes so much out of me. My husband helps out a lot. He now cleans the bathrooms, sweeps, and mops all the floors, he also makes dinner every once in awhile. I clean the kitchen, do the laundry (which takes me forever to fold), and cook dinner. But because he realizes it take so much out of me, he pay someone to come and the clean the house about every 3 weeks. The person who comes cleans the bathrooms, sweeps and mops all the floors, folds the laundry, and wipes the base boards. It's such a life saver for me.

Meme, that is so excellent that you have someone come in to help! Yes, folding the laundry is quite a task these day. I will fold the smaller items while sitting on the couch, but can't seem to get those fitted sheets folded. :)

Housekeeping is exhausting and painful. I've been trying to pick up the slack over the last few years because my wife has had two knee replacements. This has kind of made me the only cook and bottle washer during that time. This is a big house, with a mother in laws appartment (where my Mom lives). She is almost 80 and unable to do much. My wife is starting to do more now again....and has never complained about the housework that I've been doing, but the house looks like something blew up in here! Also, I'm way behind on the yardwork/winterization here. Oh well, it is what it is . I really like meme's idea about having someone come in every few weeks and will start looking into that today. I have company coming this weekend and am trying to figure out how I'm going to make the house presentable...hmmmm. :-)

I hit the housekeeping like I do the exercises.... Ten minutes and rest for however. Ten minutes, and done. Takes me all day to necessarily get a "huge" job done (e.g., clean all flooring at once because I fell behind on my day to day maintenance).... But it works for me. Also, I use anything I can that makes it easier. Lightweight upright mini-vacuum (I have no carpets, so rarely need a "real" vacuum cleaner).... Any cleaner that clean-and-sit (so I can spray, walk away, return later to do the wipe down)...

Wish I had someone to come in and help.

And someone needs to throttle the person who gave us fitted sheets, or force them to fold them all the live-long day and night, see how well it goes. *Grr*

Hubby does do dishes (thank God) but the rest is mine.

I deal with baseboards by using a sponge mop. Which is also how I do walls and ceiling wipes. I get the kind that's sorta rounded. I forget what it's called now. But it means I can stand, no hunching or crawling around.

Annnnd.... If I must confess? I ditched my traditional vac for a wet-dry shop vac for my birthday this last summer. OMG. Who needs to bend down to get under furniture? Drop the shop vac hose with its extender attached, gets all the bunnies, bits, pieces, dunno-what-s, and I just sort push the hose around with a foot to move it.

Yes, I'm lazy, but my right hip stopped bending properly four years ago after an accident/injury to my pelvis and spine, so anything below waist level is.... Creatively done. (Every scrubber I've got is on a telescioping stick, even if that's not how it came form the store, ahem.)

Laundry is... Awful. Hubby has to do the load-unload part, but the folding still gets me. Would love to have someone come in. Ahhhh....

Sorry to ramble. I am inundated by cleaning right now post-Mom stuff.

I'm laughing because I feel the same way - never enjoyed it, but wish I had the energy to do a better job now!

I have two cats, they are white, and they SHED like nobody's business. I thank my lucky stars for the Swiffer.

My poor husband does what he can, but his job is extended hours and physical, so he is limited with time. My daughter works in the City and her commute gets her in late. They do what they can.

I got so tired of the crap that seemed to accumulate in the basement that I spent all Sunday cleaning it out. But like Leo said, do for 10 minutes, rest. What really bugs me is that, yes, my husband and daughter do clean up in the kitchen and bathrooms, but (I shouldn't be complaining) they don't clean like me!!!

Right now I'm eyeing a dusty bunny composed of cat hair under one of the kitchen bar stools. If I don't keep up with it very three days, they'd overrun the place. Ugh. If you don't laugh about it, you'll cry.

I used to love to clean and my house was immaculate, but now, forget it, cannot keep up. It is just too exhausting and hurts after. I do all the housekeeping; my husband does help cook and do laundry and is Mr. Fix it, but not good at cleaning. I keep telling him we need to downsize since 2/3 children are out of the house, but it is just not the right time. Luckily, my two shih tzus do not shed to add to it. I often say to the dogs that I wish I could put them to work to clean lol.

Yep. Cleaning floors, doing laundry or washing dishes gets me every time.

My kids used to call me the floor nazi. At one point we had 3 dogs and the floors HAD to be cleaned daily or I would flip out. We have laminate flooring, so windex and paper towels or a towel work the best on them. I would be on my hands and knees scrubbing at least once a week, but vacuum every day and maybe use a sponge mop. Now, we are down to 2 dogs and since hubby left it is lucky if the floors are cleaned 2 times a week. I hate seeing dog hair, so if I am sick, I go to my room where I can't see it.

I used to pay someone to come once every other week to do jobs like the bathroom, but now I am using that money for a massage for me. Basketball season is coming which means a LOT of bleacher time for me. So a massage is a necessity.

I struggle to clean the bathroom. Hubby did that when he was home. Sometimes my son will conquer it and do a good job.

I use cleaning the floors as my exercise. I am generally spent by the time they are done. I just got a Shark vacuum and retired my Dyson. It works GREAT!!

BBMom, a Shark sounds like a great idea! I really want my kitchen and bathroom floors cleaned, uh...my way! LOL!

I end up doing the majority of the housework and some of the repairs. Getting hubby and daughter to do something is too frustrating. They would rather have all their teeth pulled, reinserted and repulled! Whatever I can't do doesn't get done. Looks like bombs went off!! I hate it but it's too much for me to do. Hubby& daughter don't seem to give a rip. Too sad.

I mopped my 4' x 6' kitchen floor this weekend, and my neck/shoulder muscles flared up. I immediately went to get a massage (which helped a lot), but it's five days later now and neck and back still hurt!

It costed me $60 for that massage. It does not cost $60 to hire someone to mop a 4' x 6' floor! Do the math. From now on, hiring a house cleaner it is!!
