I think personally it's b/c we're evolved to associate light with safety so nighttime just brings out the primal reactions... and so if we're already upset or stressed, it really doubles down on us, is my experience.
Also, we're tired.
And if we take meds they're usually taken during the day and wear out or levels may dip---
Myself? I try to do my day's gratitude list in the evening, I try to watch something amusing every evening 9God bless YouTube), I play cheerful little computer games like solitaire or jigsaw puzzles, etc.--- very mellow stuff.... and yes, if it's bad, take the anti-anxiety med as needed. Sometimes, for me, one good night's sleep can really help!
Wishing you best. I know th efeeling. It sux.
. LeoX3 you've hit it on the head---it is like sundowner's syndrome (watched my mother lose it in a motel when it got dark).
There's a lot of plain fear in the anxiety--a lack of self-acceptance in the illness.I need to simply talk myself down, and do some deep breathing, maybe yoga also.
I also don't have any schedule from 3pm to bedtime which probably doesn't help. I'll plan to watch videos at a certain hour---something to look forward to.
