So, I just found out my Aunt and her daughter have fibro as well. Is fibro hereditary? I also found out that they were allergic to milk and their pain reduced by 80% after they stopped consuming it. So I'm going to ask my doctor about the milk allergy and if there is a way to test for it. I don't know this side of the family as well so, I guess I find it interesting to find out. Maybe it will be helpful in figuring out my own fibro issues.

Yes, I've heard it's hereditary. My mom and two of her sisters have it and I have it also.

It can run in families , but not a for sure thing. I am the first one on both sides of my family that has fibro . I really hope my son doesn't get fibro.

My Mom and I both have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I have read that it possibly can be hereditary. My Mom also has Osteoarthritis but so far, I do not. Just hoping that my daughter or sons never gets either one.

I believe it is hereditary. That being said, I am the first to my knowledge on either side of my family but two of my 3 adult children have it.

I've read online it can run in families also. My Aunt also has a rare lung disorder which I hope I don't have. I have this small cyst in my leg and I think one in my hip (which is harder to find) that I want to see if the doctor will take a look at..

According to my Rhuemtologist is hasn't been proved for sure but he thinks so. My mother and her sister (my aunt) have both had it for years and now I have it also. My mother also has MS and my rhuem. wants me to go see a Neurologist to be tested for that also.

To lisa-I read an article when visiting a clinic with my mother in Wisconsin last year that was cutting edge information. It said that they are looking at a couple of DNA that are passed on for this condition. Of course it can come out of nowhere, but a lot of time there are triggering events. I also am in the Northwest Ohio area. I agree it is hard to work with this. I have had to change my work hours many times, give up a well-paying career, re-train with State Vocational Rehab in 2012. I try to hang in there part time because like most of you I need to work. I think this gets worse as you age, as well as the muscles harden. I is good to find a balance that works for you. My mother and a sister both have it. All 3 "official" in that a rheumatologist diagnosed us with it.
