You probably don't want to hear this, but....
My thearapists' daughter had Fibro real bad, to the point she couldn't get out of bed. She said she was very depressed and had past issues to deal with. After getting a good therapist and physchologist, her daughter got better, in fact so much better, she is completely pain free. Now I know that's not going to work for everyone. But if you are depressed or working with past issues they could very well be making you sicker.
Since I have been seeing my Therapist (good one) And when I was finally able to deal with some issues, my pain level has improved tremendously. Most of the time I can say its a 1 or 2, only if I really over do it with exercise do I pay for it, with a 7 or 8.
Anyway, just a thought. It worked for her daughter, and I really believe it is helping me.
I know there have been a lot of ideas put out on how to over come Fibro. I don't think I will ever completely over come it, but I do believe that depression and past issues can make it worse.

I can see how talking over your issues with a good therapist may help improve fibro symptoms. Depression and "issues" are stress-inducing conditions. Stress makes fibro symptoms worse. Working with a therapist to come to terms with issues or receive good help for depression can alleviate stress, which could go a long way in helping improve fibro symptoms.

At least that's what my foggy brain is thinking today.

I tend to agree that stress and emotional issues make symptoms worse. After all, thoughts and emotions are neurochemical--they affect the body on a cellular level. Exercise is good for everything. My acupuncturist makes me exercise. So, whatever works!

If that's the case, then I could be well on the road to recovery if I could ditch the negligent hubby.
I know I'm a lot better when he's off on a trip and I feel more at ease with a lot less stress.
I'm married on paper to the seven dwarfs: Dopey, Clumsy, Goofy, Dummy, Selfish, Messy and Thief all wrapped up in one.

I guess it's possible for some people. I have been going to a therapist for over a year, and it has not improved my symptoms. Do you know how long it takes for it to start helping?

DDDnTN - I think that 6 of your 7 are bigamists, cause they're over at my house for at least part of the dsy.

Unique, I feel sorry for you Hon, I have this crap to put up with day in and day out.
I wonder if we could lie about their (ahem) attributes and auction them off?

Well...I know it might work for some, but for a big part of my time with fibro I've been happier than I've ever been in my life. Nobody lives stress free, and I certainly haven't, but I'm not depressed - not clinically - and I have, for the most part, dealt with the "baggage" of my life.

I hope it works out for you - there definitely is some truth in "mind over matter."

That sounds good to me, but I doubt we could get enough for them, and then we would have to deal with dissatisfied buyers. If only we could find a sleeping beauty that would take them and lose them in a forrest somewhere . . .

Anyway, by the time the new owners realized what they had, we could be long gone and on some exotic beach somewhere.

Dixie, you are right that it is mind over matter. Right now my biggest problem is with chronic hepatitis and chronic pancreatitis. I am not trying to make light of your information. I think it is very useful, although I do have clinical depression and that might be why the counseling hasn't helped me all that much.

I normally don't joke this much, but it seemed a good night for it. Thanks for all your good info. Hope you have as good night.

That can defintely help some people. For others, it is strictly chemical and physical. For myself, I talk to my husband openly about everything, close to my parents and I have solid ways of dealing with stress. Of course not immune to it, but even if I am happy, I still have chronic headaches and pain. So, I know for a fact that MY fibro is a specific physical condition all by itself.

It is true that w/ any Chronic disease depresssion is a side-bar. I have been seeing my thereapist for over a year now and I agree that it has helped not only w/ dealing w/ the pain and the fact that I am inflicted with Fibro forever, but with my self-esteem and self-confidence. Without her help, I would not have the job I have to day. Best of luck to everyone - HUGS kerrylynn

Dixe4me, why wouldn't we want to hear this? It's a good reminder for us all how much we can manage our pain levels. Lets face it, mgmt is the only options for us. Thanks for sharing.
