Check on chostochondritis online. I experienced this a couple of years ago and had clear EKG's too. My doc told me to take 2 Aleve twice a day and it cleared it up for me.

I too have had alot of "Chest pains" these past 10 months...multiple checks say there is No Reason for further testing...but the Pains are there...
Tight Muscles, Fascia, screwing with the nerves...Anxiety about it All Exacerbating the Pain...makes for not alot of Fun Times...

I had that. The heart is a muscle of course so will be affected by Fibro. I started taking high quality magnesium supplements for my muscles. I also have GERD and before I knew what was wrong I thought several times I was having a heart attack. I take prilosec for it but still get intense chest pains at times. And since getting Fibro I have developed a heart rhythm disorder. I hope you get your answers to this. Take care.

I get that too. thought I was dying for months after my son was born. My mom died from heart disease at 54. Turned out to be costocondritis. Treated with anti inflamatories. Sp I still get it sometimes and even though i know what it is i still get anxiety from it. Hope you feel better soon. Heat on my chest helped alot too.

I get the chosto too...it feels like your having a heart attack..my tests were all normal too....it comes in waves,like most FM crap does..but it is scarey, very at times....i rest with ice and heat packs..and of course some valium and pain killers,it settles after a few days normally for me..huggs.

I think alot of us get that, like she said heart is a muscle, yes it feels like the symptoms of a heart attack very scary...and lost of ER visits w/no results. Best think I can think of also is some type of anti inflammatory...

Is it an ache? Does it hurt when you breathe? Do you have other health issues like an autoimmune? I was rushed to er by hubby with chest pain, hurt when I breathe, and when they did all the tests first to check for a heart attack the dr. said pleurisy. Its an inflammation of lining in between ribs. Anti-inflamatory meds like aleve, or ibuprofen taken daily for about a month eases it up but it doesn't ever go away and can "flare" up any time. Not good news. You should get it checked out for other issues. Just because the EKG was normal doesn't mean something isn't happening.

I agree with April ... I have been sick for nearly 2 yrs now and they could not figure out what was wrong. I've had many many severe chest pains where I thought I was having a heart attack. I've even driven myself to the ER but when I got there I sat in the car for about 20 minutes and it finally passed.

Last week, with my doctor telling me I have Fibro, I did some research and finally got an explanation for the chest pains. Go to this site, then click on 'Chest symptoms' and it will explain it to you.

I have also had this. I get it periodically and feels like having a heart attack. I have GERD and not sure if that is what causes it.. but prilosec seems to help and I take it only if I feel stomach or other issues of indigestons coming on.

Although you had a normal EKG did the doctor do other testing ?


It is important to remember that EKGs are not 100% accurate. Normal recordings can be obtained in patients with significant heart disease, or some "abnormalities" may exist in the presence of a normal heart.

Me too! I have had this for yrs. with FM! I always have sternum pain & stiffness! Always have chest stiffness and acid reflux. I try to do gentle exercises & long hot baths, for stiffness and take pepcid twice a day, before breakfast and dinner. Watch lifting! In the evenings when I am watching TV....I place a heating pad on my chest...it really helps! When I first had these pains....my MD checked me into Deborah Hospiatal, here in Jersey...they told me it was stress...long before anyone heard of FM! LOL! Thank God...now we have this support group!

Thanks to all who responded. I know my mom has FM and has had countless visits to ER for chest pains thinking heart attack, but was "fine". Go figure. I'm being told it's the "chest muscles" since it hurts to push on my chest. Uh, sure.

Anyway, it's like someone takes a knitting needle and just jabs it into my heart. The rest of the time it's just sore.....hurting.
