Fibromyalgia Support Group
You're not alone in your pain. Fibromyalgia is a condition that can be difficult to diagnose and manage. If you're trying to cope with pain throughout your body, sleep problems, general fatigue, or other common fibromyalgia symptoms, you're in the right place. The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.
I have tried every method of managing the fibromyalgia/CFS//ME as well as other conditions with things other than drugs and nothing helped. Every time I hear someone say that, if we only exercised, we would be better. HOGWASH! I was an avid athlete when I first became ill, exercising almost daily. I was in excellent health otherwise, so I just don't buy that advice. I do try to walk to improve my health generally, but I don't believe for a second that exercise will markedly improve my situation.
Most of the other conditions she mentions, ie heart disease, cancer, etc. are often a result of poor lifestyle choices. We are responsible for a lot of the suffering we endure. Even with fibro, there is something that brings it on, should you be lucky enough to have the genetic predisposition to it, which I do, unfortunately. In my case, it was the loss of my daughter in still birth, followed by a severe illness my father had and a near-fatal (in fact, fatal, but revived twice) car wreck my brother had, all within 3 months. All that stress, plus the end of my marriage, the end of my job and having to see my house, apparently was so severe that my body was over-stressed and reacted, probably in my view, to protect itself from further stress by sending me first into a state where I couldn't remember anything (thus eliminating the stress of the kind of jobs I had once done), then into the world of pain I now endure (after a series of more physical jobs). My body has just stopped working for me. Now it works against me. I don't blame it anymore. It and I are victims of circumstance. I just try to be as good to it as I can be and spend my 'inside time' in my mind, thinking of things more pleasant that stressful.
I would love to hear from someone else in the pharma industry about these issues. Someone who at least will document their experience more specifically, rather than just a '15 year' veteran of the pharma industry. Maybe I'll just do a little google search on this gal.
Thanks so much for posting this. It is always good to get as much information as you can and this is valuable. I just plan to do more research on what she says.
