Its bad enough to have the thing done but to be rough housed during the whole thing is despicable.

I'll be the big 40 this year and I have yet to get a mammagram. Mainly due to the pain associated with them.

I know it's risky....but I just don't think I can cope with it. My chest area is one place that is almost always in pain due to the costchondritis stuff....and my arthritis in my back makes it a full-360 around my body pain.

Just the thought of them trying to yank and pull on my girls would be too much!

I am sorry for you and I do hope you lodge a complaint against the person who did the test. I don't think any doctor would want a patient of theirs to be treated that way.

I wonder what it would take to get approved for ultrasound breast screen to by pass the pain triggered by torturous mammogram?

Many women put off screening due to dread of discomfort. My neighbor and good friend finally got her self to quit procrastinating and submit to a mammogram a couple years off schedule and just got bad news back - she has a lump so deep that at her subsequent biopsy the lump couldn't be reachedt. She now has to have surgery just for biopsy.

I think I will just get regular mammograms and suck it up. Better safe than sorry.

Its just so sad that a mammogram has to be so painful. I got my doctors approval this past JUne to have a breast MRI and I think it is worse than a mammogram. I will never go through that again. I dont know what I will do this coming June when it is time for another mammogram.
I'm so sorry that you went through that kind of treatment. I really dont think radiologists realize how painful having fibro really is.

By all means report her. The techs who do mine touch me as little as possible and they are very gentle.

On the other hand, I have to have a transvaginal ultrasound in January and I'm dreading that as the last one was horrible.

Millily, did she know you had FM? I find that I get terrible treatment by lab techs if they know I have FM.

Gosh it's painful enough to have your boob squeezed in a vice, but to have to do it with FM and in my case fibro cystic breasts it can be pure agony.

It would go so far if we were treated with gentle hands and a little bit of caring.

Wonder - please get annual mammograms - they are so important. My Mom and Grandmother both had Stage 1 found on mammograms - it saved their lives because it was caught so early and the treatment is less invasive if it is caught early. Your boys need their Mom for a long time.

It is worth the pain - I have costochondritis too all the time. It was the shoving around that did me in - and that is not how they are normally done.

I switched to ice after using heat last night and took a pain pill and muscle relaxant and finally was able to get some relief so I could sleep.

I have had one breast removed due to ca and had reconstructive surgery. I have only ultrasounds. But my special in Canada said there is a form o be filled in claiming that it can cause undue harm and they automatically change to a ultrasound. It is a lot less painful, but at my stage you touch me I hurt. Sometimes my husband playfully will grab the nipple I just want to slug him. But I dont'. Hope this helps you. isabee
