Fibromyalgia Support Group
You're not alone in your pain. Fibromyalgia is a condition that can be difficult to diagnose and manage. If you're trying to cope with pain throughout your body, sleep problems, general fatigue, or other common fibromyalgia symptoms, you're in the right place. The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.
On October 1, 2015, fibromyalgia will finally be recognized as an official diagnosis in the new ICD-10 list of codes being adopted across the U.S. This is the final culmination of the advances over the last decade in the medical communitys understanding and acceptance of fibromyalgia as a real disease.
Fibromyalgia is a real illness that has been officially recognized and anyone still disputing that fact is clearly living in the dark ages. With that being said, there are many with fibromyalgia that unknowingly have a gluten intolerance, or a coexisting candida infection or leaky gut syndrome. I have all three. I am gluten free and follow a paleo diet/anti-candida diet. I also do not consume sugar. I use stevia in place of sugar and sometimes xylitol for baking.
In 2012 I was practically bedridden and dealing with level 8,9, 10 daily pain. I found an integrative medical doctor who helped me to make many dietary changes and treat candida and leaky gut syndrome. The only way to know that you have a gluten intolerance is to eliminate it totally from your diet about 8 months. The dietary changes along with other components of my regimen have helped me tremendously. My daily pain levels are about 1-3, or barely noticeable at times. For me, I will always follow my diet because it has been a lifesaver for me. Yes, I still have fibromyalgia and sleep issues but my pain and stiffness are much better.
I have a blog and I have a list of foods to avoid if you have fibromyalgia. Avoiding these foods have been a lifesaver for me, for if I accidentally consume any of them I have a pain flare. Feel free to message me with any questions. My blog is: www.kickfibro.com
There are many who have benefited from making dietary changes, but that doesn't mean that they had something other than fibromyalgia. I truly believe that anyone diagnosed with fibromyalgia look into following an anti-candida diet or paleo diet and work with an integrative doctor who can guide you through the process and help you with anti-fungals. I believe that many people with fibro do have an overlapping gluten intolerance or candida overgrowth and that addressing it properly will reduce pain. Best Wishes.
I never in a million zillion years would believe I was being negatively affected by gluten but now I have really realized its aiding my body to seriously attack itself
I also too encourage someone with any auto immune disease to at least consider this aspect
A few months ago I was practically bedridden wih pain and fever (or at least wanted to be but a new born baby giveth craps not ha ha!)
I will read your blog, so happy to found a resource I can trust easily. I'm sure you are tremendously helping a lot of people , best wishes
I have been experiencing otherwise unexplained bouts of depression, panic , isolation and on very very bad days suicidal thoughts not to mention the foggiest of brain dogs, loss of memory, concentration, mood swings etc... I'm hoping this may be another chance at normality for me? Can anyone shed any light
