If it is not just sunlight, then there may be currently some allergen or pollutant, and you just have to hide from it.
If it is the sunlight you may try dressing like a sailor: There are several brands of clothes that make clothes that totally block penetration by sunlight - often light weight so they don't make you hot, also try a hat with a wide opaque brim. I am a sailor w/ high skin cancer risk and this approach kept me safe.
I hope you and your doc figure out how to eliminate this source of discomfort for you.
As for the sun, my Irish ginger complexion combines with my sun sensitivity to make me feel like I'm cooking alive. I can feel my skin burning a lot as soon as sunlight touches my skin. I burn enough to look like a lobster and then it goes right back to white. I've been burnt through my shirt even. If the sun is out, I have to hear a shirt while swimming. I have described it to people as getting a bad sunburn and then going out into the sun and how worse it feels while already burnt.
I also have difficulty with heat...some of my meds advise against prolonged sun exposure, and suggest protective clothing- the type that letitbe mentioned, Lots of out door stores like Eastern Mountain Sports sell clothing like this, as well as surf shops.
Also, I do not know what other or how many meds your are on, or if you have any other DX's but you may need to hydrate even more in the summer.-closer to 90-100 oz...and balance the extra water off with some potassium like a banana or a glass of Orange Juice to keep your electrolytes in check.
Some meds affect the body's ability to regulate temperature, and as I have recently learned by experience, even if you have been on the same meds for years, many factors can change the way your body metabolizes your meds causing you to have reactions you never had before....
I hope that some of the suggestions posted help you to enjoy your summer with your boys :)
