Hi everyone-it has been quite a while since I posted here, but I need your good vibes. As some of you might remember, I lost my job of 10 years in May, due to memory and concentration problems that I know were from the fibro. and also lupus which I have. I have been trying to live on unemployment and this month seems to be the last month I'll be able to afford the medical insurance from COBRA. Anyway, I am going to be working with a lawyer to see if they can get my job back, because according to the ADA, my job should have worked with me to accommodate those problems. I have started seeing a psychologist for neuro-cognative testing to see just where those deficits are, so that it will be on paper that I do have a problem, not just some doctors stating it with no proof. They are going to be sending a "Notice to sue(?) letter to my employer, which is scaring me to death, because that means the process is really starting. My only question is, if I get my job back, will they make it miserable for me? I've been told they will be warned, if they give me the job back, that they cannot harrass me because of my actions. My formal testing will be on Sept. 9 and 10, 2-3 hours each day. Has anyone had these tests? I'm really nervous about them. On one side, I'm scared that the tests won't show anything, then I'll look like a fool, but on the other hand, what if they show I have Alzeimers (sp) or something like that. So please keep me in your thoughts for this testing, ok.
Also, I'm feeling really low because both my kids have left here. My son lives in Spain, and was here for a visit with his new wife. She's from Spain and that's why he lives there. He said he won't be able to visit here until next summer. And my daughter just left to go back to college in Washington D.C. So I won't see her till at least Thanksgiving. I have been a single mom for the last 14 years, and had at least one of the kids home here with me. Now I'm alone, I have no family within 400 miles, and am not liking this at all. With no job (and I've been advised not to get a job until the testing is done-don't want to get fired again), my house is so empty-just me, my dog and cats. It's creepy at night, and I worry what will happen if I get hurt or sick, which we all know happens to us. I guess I will get used to it. But not working is a horrible feeling-I feel like such a failure, even though it is the fibro, lupus and breast cancer (in remission, thankfully) that have caused the problems.
I'm sorry this post got so long-I guess I'm feeling super lonely today. Hopefully something good will happen soon. Thanks for listening. God bless all of you. Kathy

Kshort, I suffered brain injury in car/truck accident and had every brain wave, cognitive test there was 14 yrs ago. Not at all scary. Just answer questions the best that you really can. Now as for the job, if you do actually get it back, they will hopefully treat you with respect, and maybe more gently since they know that "you mean business". I admit it certainly sounds like a scary process, but so is what you mentioned in your post, breast cancer, FM, and Lupus. Yet here you are fighting for your job, and coping with an empty nest. You are a warrior!!! Hugs, Debbie
