Adult son staying with me and driving my car with an expired license (too busy with new job). Well, finally I realized that wasn't smart and got mad at him on Christmas Day.
I made a complicated (for me) lunch for the other son's family. I was completely exhausted.
Then the son staying with me got a friend to pick him up and he left the apt. locked with a lower lock I never use and don't have the key for. I forced the handle a little and broke it and had to call a locksmith.
This son told me how I don't know how to talk to people because I have such a restriced social life and how I can't do anything...have so many limitations. Tell me something I don't already know! It hurt my feelings.
Next year: some other arrangement. I don't think I want to host this kid at my house.
My fatigue is not safe, brain is dead and I can't do the Christmas thing. Maybe a pot luck brunch at the other son's house.

Hope you get some rest. I'd make the son pay for the locksmith.
Just a suggestion, could you possibly put some tape over that lower lock to avoid it from happening again or did you have the locksmith make you a key? I'm sorry you had this happen but again, stuff happens. Be patient with yourself, I know these things can be upsetting, but in the grand scheme of things, this is not a major thing worthy of a lot of stress. I think you have the right idea--next year plan something more simple. I am all in favor of simplicity!!
